Terrible recipe. How can you add 2 cups of liquid, simmer for 2 hours, and then remove 2 cups of liquid. Makes no sense. Much to little liquid added. Almost burned. Lucky I looked. So I added another 2 cups, went ahead, added the corn starch and water. and it's fine. But, please.

THIS IS THE BEST BEEF STEW EVER!!!..I followed the recipe and doubled the water added 2 beef cubes. I wanted to make sure I had enough broth. You don't need any wine to give it flavor. If you double the water then double seasoning. The house smelled so good and I prayed it would taste as good as it smelled. IT DID!.you just wouldnt think it would taste this good by looking at recipe, its so simple.

Very good recipe. I only had about 1 1/2 pounds of beef, so I threw in 4 diced Yukon potatoes. I also let it all simmer for longer than an hour and a half which was fine, but some of the smaller potatoes got a little mushy - just something to consider if you do this. As well, I added about 1/2 cup of Cabernet Sauvignon to the mix before serving. All in all, this was a great recipe and very easy. Reminded me a lot of my mom's beef stew!

Awesome! Just like Mom's, which is the best....but I lost her recipe! Gluten free too which we need.

WONDERFUL! (Used mostly red wine for the liquid instead of water though
Totally works in a slow cooker after the initial steps.

This was good but based on the reviews I was expecting a bit more. That said, I'd make it again but tweak it up a bit as I didn't find it all that flavorful. Used beef broth as others suggested and added frozen cooked peas and fresh cooked carrots and turnip. I'm hopeful it will be tastier on day two.

I let this simmer for most of the day and the meat gets so tender. I add more garlic and leave out the all spice, added a little seasoning from the beef stew spice packets. Didn't have cornstarch so made a rue with some flour and butter, worked out fine. Great make ahead winter dish.

Like others have posted, this is a great tasting and wonderfully satisfying stew! Also like others, I modified it slightly by using beef stock instead of water, and by adding in about a pound of quartered red potatoes and a little Marsala wine. Give it a shot - it is easy and tastes awesome!
