    This stew is so easy and has a great flavor. Much easier and better than a similar recipe by Ina Garten. I used beef broth instead of water. Try adding a can of condensed french onion soup at the end if you need more liquid. Also - buy a good quality (more expensive stew meat - its worth it.

    I took the advise of others and added potatoes to this receipe. Hearty, easy to make, and doesn't make a huge mess of the kitchen to prepare. Flavor could be tweaked to be a little better, but overall it was good and worth another shot.

    The stew itself was absolutly delicious but combined with the potato dish it becomes completely irresitable!!!! Love your show Paula and your recipes are to die for!!!!!!

    the gravy was not thick like 'ol-time beef stew' should be. i added cornstarch to thicken....turned out ok, but will try a different recipe next time.

    I am not a stew eater but boy have I changed my mind. I should have rated this recipe sooner. My husband had been after me for years to make him stew and because I didn't like it I delayed. Not anymore, I have made this recipe at least 12 times including for my brother-in-law's fishing trip.

    It could have been me but I didn't get the broth thick enough. I will definitely make again and make adjustments. Good flavor.
