I made similar to cjevere (and on same day. Added mushrooms sautéed in red wine and butter. I am going to serve over rice for lunch tomorrow and it taste wonderful. It's a nice hearty stew with perfect flavor. No need to add even a dash of salt.

This was amazing. I followed the recipe using the water except for I added whole mushrooms with the rest of the veggies. This will be a staple in my house for years. Best recipe I have ever tried!!

What I like about this recipe is that I can buy a huge tough roast for much cheaper than stew meat, cut it into chunks myself, and it simmers into tender delectableness! I also used beef stock and added potatoes, but I never would have thought of the worschestershire sauce or the cloves and it is really delcious. I had some contractors working at my house and made a pot of stew for them to eat for lunch on a cold day. That and biscuits was all I made and they ate the entire potfull, using the last of the biscuits to get all the stew juice out of the pot. It was a huge hit and I have a reputation among the guys as a GREAT cook--thanks Paula!

Amazing! I used beef stock instead of water and doubled the amount. By doubling the amount of liquid (beef stock recommended, you have to take into consideration the other ingredients as well.

    Served 5 adults.
Served on top of Jasmine Rice. The whole pot was finished.

Great beef stew recipe. I agree with the responses about adding beef stock instead of water. I also added some potatoes. I would also add about a tsp of cayenne pepper. Thanks Paula Deen for another great recipe!

This recipe was right on the money!!! It was awesome. Instead of the water, I used beef stock and I also added potatoes. I cooked it in the crock pot. It was delicious. My youngest, who is a picky eater, couldnt get enough of it!!!!. I will be making this on a regular basis.. Thanks Paula
