Seriously...one meal that has never appealed to me is stew. Needing 'comfort food' one day, I decided to try this. I was impressed and so was my husband. I did substitute a carton of beef stock for water (wonderful flavor and added some cubed potatoes.

I can never make enough of this stew. Some additions I've made...about 20-25 minutes before eating, I add cut up potatoes and between 1 1/2-2 cups of red wine. I also add one beef boullion cube. I let it cook for between 4-6 hours as well. Stupendous stew!!

OMG, this was so delicious. I had never made stew before and thought this sounded really easy. The meat was tender, the gravy a wonderful thickness. I would definitely add potatoes next time. I served it with mashed potatoes and biscuits. The kids loved it and so did my husband! Thanks Paula for a great recipe! I will definitely share this with friends and family!

This was so easy to make, yet had such a great flavor. I used precut stew meat from my grocer, added potatoes & was surprised how tender it turned out. The left-overs were even better! This is one I'll make again & again.

stew was simple and painless to make. I just added baby red potatoes and some mushrooms to this recipe and it was a hit with my family!

Great recipe, I added potatoes - thought it was weird that that was left out.
