The flavor of the beef stew was very tasty. I would however cook veggies a little longer overall. But I would make again.

This is an easy dish to make and has a nice flavor. I did have a problem with the liquid. If you only put two cups of liquid in at the beginning and then cook it for 1 1/2 hrs., and then cook it again after adding the vegetables, you are not going to have 2 cups left to remove for gravy. I ended up adding a cup of water when I added the vegetables. It is also not necessary to remove the liquid to thicken. I just mixed the cornstarch and water until smooth and then added it to the stew in the pot. It worked out just fine.

This was an easy dish to prepare for a weeknight meal that the whole family enjoyed - my husband, 4 year old, and 1 year old child. I'll make a larger batch next time and freeze it with some egg noodles.

This was excellent, easy to prepare and a wonderful hot stew for my hubby to come home to on a rainy night! When the stew had finished cooking, I added a (drained can of corn niblets. Seems like this gave it a little extra comfort-food goodness! Next time I'll also add some diced potatoes when I add the carrots & celery. This goes well with some fresh warm French bread with butter! Mmmm! Thanks Paula!

I added red wine, more garlic, green beans, fingerling potatoes and baby onions. Very nice.

The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I used beef broth instead of water, so I had to doctor it a bit. I have been looking for a gravy type stew recipe for years and this fit the bill. Adding the cornstarch and water at the end, it thickened right up like gravy. Another great receipe Paula!! You are one of my favs.
