Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 to 3 re-sealable plastic freezer bags

Add-Ins (all are optional):

  • Shredded Cheddar
  • Crumbled feta
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Cooked and crumbled bacon
  • Cooked and crumbled sausage
  • Diced ham
  • Chopped bell peppers
  • Chopped spinach
  • Diced red onion
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sauteed sliced mushrooms
  • Sliced black olives

Directions

In a medium mixing bowl whisk together eggs, salt, pepper and any of the desired add-ins. Divide and pour the egg mixture into re-sealable plastic bags.

Boil a large pot of water and drop in the sealed omelette bags. Simmer the bags for 5 to 8 minutes. Remove bags from the water with tongs and drain them on a paper towel lined plate.

Allow to cool slightly before handling. Open the bags and pour the cooked omelet out onto a plate.

    Simmer...don't boil! Tasty eggs

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
6 eggs 2 handfuls of shredded cheddar jar of sliced mushrooms drained and diced crumbled pre-cooked bacon couple shakes... of Paula's House Seasoning. Divide between 2 gallon freezer bags. Water should be boiled first but turned down to simmer before you gently add bags. I cooked the eggs 9 minutes on medium heat and then poured egg mixture into microwaveable bowl and then cooked in microwave on high for 1 minute. Eggs were perfect. Will make this again....it was fast and easy and very tasty!Read more

    Great Recipe for 1-10

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
It is just myself and my husband and we are watching out cholestral. It is hard to make an omellet with one egg. This... recipe is perfect for that. How easy can this get. I just mix one egg, the ingredients, put iit in a sandwich plastic baggie and do one for my husband. It comes out perfect each time. I can make it for my family as well, 6 of then all at one time and they get in the omellet what they want. It turns our great each time. Read more

Easy to make and little cleanup!

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
We made this on New Years morning. We did find that we had to cook ours a bit longer than 8 minutes. We used 9 eggs for 4... people and that was plenty. The omelets were good sized. If the bags floated too much, we just used a large spoon to hold them under the surface of the water for a minute or two until they were done. None of the bags broke. Use a waterproof marker to put your initials on the bag (prior to filling them) if you are doing a few at once. They came out of the bags perfectly. You throw the bags away and empty the pot the water was in and that's about it for cleanup. I would imagine this recipe would also be great to use on a camping trip. Read more

Very Easy and A Crowd Pleaser

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made these omelettes on Christmas morning when all my family came over. There were about 10 of us. Instead of using... Ziploc bags, I used Foodsaver bags. I had two beaten eggs waiting in everyone's individual baggies (wrote names on baggies with Sharpie) when they arrived. They added in their ingredients then I sealed the baggies with the Foodsaver (using only the sealing function-not the vacuum function). Then I boiled the bags for about 8 minutes. Very, very tasty. Foodsaver bags are labeled "boilable" so I didn't have to worry about any bursting. Not only was this a great breakfast item, it was a fun thing for every guest to be involved in making. Will do this again next Christmas for sure! Read more
