Ingredients

Beef:

  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 pound boneless bottom round steaks, cut crosswise into 1-inch strips
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs

Orange Dipping Sauce:

Directions

For the beef: Heat 1/2-inch of the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. (When a crumb of panko sizzles after being dropped in, the oil is ready.)

Sprinkle the beef with salt and pepper. Place the flour, eggs, and panko in separate bowls. Dredge the beef strips first in the flour, shaking off any excess, then dip into the beaten eggs, and then the panko.

Fry the beef strips, turning once, until brown, about 1 minute per side. Transfer the beef to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Sprinkle with salt.

For the sauce: In a small microwave-safe bowl, stir together the marmalade, vinegar, and mustard. Microwave on high for 45 seconds, or until bubbly. Serve with the beef strips.

I made these last night using sirloin since that is what I had on hand. Instead of making the orange sauce (although it sounds like something I would like, I served them with leftover roast gravy which is my husband's preference. This will go into my recipe notebook to be made on a regular basis.

These were great. Made them for a family gathering and should of planned for more because they were gone before I new it. Glad I ate one while I was cooking them. Served them with several dipping sauces. which were, the orange dipping sauce, horseradish sauce, teriaki sauce, honey mustard. All the sauces went over well.

I don't care much for Orange Marmalade so I made fresh orange and peach dipping sauce which turned out fabulous. We also tried it with pork instead of beef, it was delicious!
