I wanted to use some oranges up, but I didn't want to use 2 sticks of butter. I halved the recipe and put it in a small square pan. Loved how it turned out. I didn't use extract, but just used some zest and fresh squeezed orange juice to taste. Probably turned out to be more than the recipe called for. And yes, it is more like an orange cake than orange brownies.

This was my second attempt at baking these, thinking I must have screwed something up the first time. They are awful, greasy, sugary, little flavor and not worth the effort when there are so many other great dessert recipes to choose from. Very disappointing!!!!!

Made recipe as written. Cook time was fine. I agree with most reviews that this is NOT a brownie but a cake. Taste is good but not great. I won't make this again.

I had to keep putting these back in the oven. I cooked them an additional 30 minutes and still they were gooey enough to not be able to hold in your hand! They will pull away from the side of the pan but still won't be cooked through. The taste is not that great either. This recipe will not be a keeper.

Every time I make these brownies I get tons of compliments. This is the one recipe I know will please everyone. These are my husbands favorite dessert, and I make a lot of desserts. So incredibly simple and fast. A no miss, home run. Try it just once!

what a fantastic recipe. I've made it several times and these "brownies" are always a hit. A better name might be orange squares since there is no chocolate in the recipe, but very delicious "brownies" they are.

Great recipe. My wife and I really enjoyed these orange brownies (or blondies. This was my very first succesful baking adventure. I tried to make a cake before but that didn't work the way it was suppose to. Nonetheless, I followed several of the recommendations from the reviews to decrease the amount of sugar in the recipe so I cut the sugar by 1/2 cup. I also only used 16 ozs for the frosting. The whole box would have been too much. The brownies had the consistency of a heavy cake on the first day but on the 2nd day they settled down and was thick like a blondie. On to my next baking adventure.

These brownies weren't bad but great, either....
