I've made this recipe numerous times, but this spring I decided to make a strawberry version. I couldn't find strawberry extract, so I used about 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract and then added some strawberry & rhubarb fruit spread to the batter - OMG, it was amazing. My grandson couldn't stop eating them. Of course I modified the icing recipe as well - just using the strawberry & rhubarb fruit spread instead of the orange juice/zest. And, for a finishing touch - I served with fresh strawberries. My family actually prefers the strawberry version better than the orange...but they are both wonderful. Thank you Paula!

A lady at work made these for some work function and left them in the little fridge next to my office and said to have some when I got a chance. Well I could NOT STOP eating these. They were incredible! I finally had to tell her to come and take the tray away or I'd eat the whole thing, and eat them instead of lunch! I even took about 5 of them home and told my roommate to try them, and then he couldn't stop eating them -lol. I begged her for the recipe and she finally sent me the link. I can't wait to try to make them myself!

I made these for a casual Sunday afternoon potluck on a 90 degree day. They were a HUGE hit and were an excellent alternative at a party where the dessert table can be so overloaded with nothing but chocolate choices.

People LOVE this cake/brownie! They are always blown away. It's delicious and very refreshing! I made these in goodie bags with gingerbread cookies, etc. for Christmas with my boyfriend's mother. We had a blast and everyone was very pleased with this treat!
Thanks!

I would like to make these for our RV Club outting coming up, we are having a "Bring your favorite brownie recipe" night. I love orange and as someone commented, orange and chocolate really go together well. I would like to incorporate chocolate chips in the batter and lower the sweetness a bit. My question is: What ratio of sugar and chocolate chips would i use if i want to have the sweetness of about 1 1/2 cups of sugar instead of the 2 cups called for in the original recipe and would semi sweet chocolate chips be better? Thank you any cooking pros in advance

This was so easy to make, and it was a big hit as dessert after a spicy Mexican dinner! I can't wait to try it with other citrus fruits.
