These are amazing. I had to bake mine between 15-18 minutes. I had one pan that I bake 20 minutes. The ones that went 20 minutes were a darker brown and were more like the pecan sandies you buy in the store. The ones that were baked less were a bit softer. We will be adding to our collection. I did only make half the recipe. But when we get room in the freezer, I will make the full batch and then freeze them for later.

Awesome cookie recipe...I agree with the other reviews that the flavor and texture is wonderful. This is now one of my families favorite cookies. Thanks Paula.

Whew~this recipe makes a lot so I cut it in half, followed the recipe to a T and they tasted delicious! Great "sandy" texture (from the confectioners' sugar and cream of tartar and just enough orange flavor. Perfect cookie to go with a cup of tea or coffee. It's a keeper!!

Awesome cookies. My orange extract had evaporated, so I substituted vanilla and did not use quite as much toffee pieces and almonds. (I used what came in one package, 1-1/3 cups. The orange zest gave just a hint of orange flavor. And wow this makes a lot; never thought I'd get to the bottom of the bowl. These surely are delish!

Absolutely had rave reviews from all my friends, the cookie was crunchy and had that sandie texture. This was my cookie for the exchange and it was easy and made more than enough to exchange as well as eat.

When I saw the ingredients for this cookie, I thought I found a new favorite Christmas cookie. However, I was very disappointed with both the texture and flavor; it was dry and the predominate flavor was orange. I wondered about using oil and butter in a cookie. Maybe it would have turned out better with just butter. Definitely won't make it again.

I'm always looking for good recipes online, but have never felt compelled to post a rating/review before (until now. I and everyone in my family, LOVED these cookies. I didn't use the orange extract, used my hand mixer to mix in the zest, almonds and bits. I decided to drizzle with chocolate to pair with the chocolate on the toffee bits. I used a chocolate glaze I found on Recipezaar for Krispy Kreme chocolate donut glaze. Yummy! Thanks for the awesome recipe, Paula.

My Dad made these for our annual Christmas cookie exchange. They didn't ship well, but really, what difference does it make! They tasted great! I will not be above using a spoon to finish the crumbs...........
