This looked so good on Paula's show, but we were terribly disappointed. It tastes more like eggs with apple pie filling on top. The batter does not fluff up and remains very moist. If you don't like eggs, you won't like this recipe.

I am talking to those who tells Paula she has it wrong or that the recipe is a flop - you are all so funny...When Paula is making something and you go and try it, you do it because it appears to be an easy to follow successful recipe - if you know how to cook! Her recipes work and not only because you see them on TV or read about them in a magazine/internet. If it does not work, it is you and not Paula's fault or the recipe! If you cannot get the same results as Paula rate yourself ....This recipe is as easy as pie - and yes, if you are Dutch you might have a better idea of the end result.

Just a thought although I have not tried this recipe yet, perhaps those who had a problem with the batter mixed it too much, which will make any pancake batter tough and rubbery, and Paula did caution not to mix too much and to leave it lumpy.

Paula;
I love your shows and cookbooks. I created a simular receipe, however I fry up some sausage with sage in the ingredients and place this on top of the apples then I pour some everyday pancake mix over this and bake for 45 minutes.
I have fed this to my family and church for years and there is never a bite remaining.

I am so disappointed in this recipe. I read all the reviews and thought how could Paula get it wrong? I followed the recipe just as it reads. After 20 minutes of cooking it didnt rise at all, so I raised the temp to 400 and let it cook 10 more minutes. I was happy to see it was rising, but the pancake didnt look done. I cooked it 10 mins more. It was perfectly puffed and golden brown. As I began to plate it and noticed the pancake was really eggy. It tasted like fried apples with scrambled eggs on top. It was so nasty my kids didnt even want it. Im sorry Paula, I still love you, but this recipe is a flop =/

I really enjoy watching Paula and read the reviews and comments before making the recipe. This is in response to the comments about Michael. Deen remarried on March 6, 2004, to Michael Groover, a tugboat pilot in the port of Savannah. Michael has two children, Michelle and Anthony, from a previous marriage. The wedding and preparation were documented by Food Network for a show aired in 2004.

Dutch pancakes are suppose to be sponge or chewy like. They are awesome made with apples or pears. I do preferr fresh friut. I cook my fresh friut in the iron skillet with butter and cinnamon. If you've never had one in Germany or Dutchland; then you really don't know how they are suppose to be.

I wanted a quick dinner and my husband loved this recipe! I used fresh apples and sauted them in butter, sprinked on cinnamon and 1 TB sugar. I didn't have sour cream so I subbed ricotta cheese. Puffed up nicely. I didn't have a cast iron skillet, so I put a cake pan with butter in the oven and preheated it. The flavor was great. Since it went so well with fresh apples, peaches or pears would be great too.
