I wondered if the recipe was correct. There was only 1/2 cup of flour listed. It wasn't like a pancake on top, more like egg on top of apples. The apples were good though. Tell me there was an error in the recipe because I really liked the idea.

I had pictured more of a pancake type breakfast. Really it was cinnamon apples topped with a light batter coating. I was very disappointed. Couldn't even finish my plate.

I made this exactly as described. I am not sure what OTHERS wanted from this as I see it has been well-rated.
I wanted something puffy and crispy on the top of my fruit. What I got was a soggy rubber tarpaulin. I am not a novice cook and this was not error on my part. I think a true dutch baby should be made and THEN when it's all puffed up and risen, topped with fruit.
    I won't try this again.

I made this today and was very disappointed. I watched the episode for this recipe a long while back but can say it looked nothing like it did when Paula made it. The pancake was very thin (about 1/8" thick and didn't puff up at all; had the look and texture of cornbread and tasted nothing like a pancake. It was very bland tasting. The apple pie filling was fine but then you can't go wrong with canned apple pie filling. I only used 1 (21oz. can of pie filling since 2 cans seemed like a lot for a 10" skillet. I suspect the problem is the online recipe is incorrect since it doesn't call for any baking powder or soda. If I make this again I think I'll use a boxed pancake mix and see how that does.

I thought this was just an ok recipe. By far the best Dutch Apple recipe I ever made was from chef Mariana Volenec. Her recipes are hard to find but the pancakes are incredible. Served with lemon wedges and a little powered sugar they're incredible!

The batter was tasty, especially with the lemon zest...but it didn't rise and was chewy.

I used a jar of Williams Sonoma Apple Pie Filling in place of the first 3 ingredients and it was great. I have always found that the canned apple filling couldn't be doctored up enough. I sure wish people would rate the recipes and not what they thought of the show. Paula is great at what she does and we watch her because we love her!

I replaced one of the cans of pie filling with cherry pie filling. Yummy! Also, I switched the pancake batter to 1 cup pancake mix, 1/2 C milk and 1 egg. Worked much better.
