I agree with Kelly from Montgomery, AL. some people are just ridiculous, are you here because you love cooking and food or just to rant? Why pick on Paula Deen of all people, waste your time somewhere else!

    A loyal fan always,
    Julie C.

Paula's adaption of the original Hangtown Fry from Placerville, California is close. For those who profess to be perfectionists, I highly recommend you do a web search for the original and to learn the interesting history. The original did not call for beer, but other adaptations which were also called Oyster Skillet do include the beer. Do your homework. For sure, way back when they used a cast iron skillet -- no one had ever heard of nonstick in the 1800's.
When I dine, I am less concerned about how the chef enunciates or pronounciates his/her words. I am more concerned with what is on my plate. If you don't like it, don't watch. This is for review of recipes NOT of the personna. Thanks ever so for posting.

oooooheeee - Paula, save the visual imagery of your feeding your man oyster in the morning. Gag.

I made this before the show came on in my area. When Paula did hers, she put the lid on. It doesn't state that in the recipe.
Mine sure didn't come out as nice as hers but was really delicious.
Next time, I will wait until I SEE it done!

I didn't care for this recipe, however, the reason probably has to do with the texture of canned oysters rather than the recipe itself. It would be worth your while to get fresh oysters if you intend to try this recipe.

It's not very southern of you to leave such a hateful message to Paula. I haven't tried this recipe but I just had to reply to your message. Apparently you are more like southern trash that is too opinionated and cannot say anything nice about people. I met Paula Deen and she is as southern as they come. I was born and raised in the same city that Paula was. I believe the war was over a LONG time ago.
