Loved this pie! Was a huge hit over the holidays. I was worried that stacking it that high would be a disaster, but it wasn't! It stayed together great. My only caution would be to be very careful when melting the caramels...I burnt mine the first time!

This pie IS AMAZING. I've made it multiple different ways, and I've been asked by friends and family to bake it every Thanksgiving and now for Christmas. I usually make the "half-mile high" pie and only use 12 apples instead of 24. I don't decrease any of the other ingredients though. It is so delicious and awesome. I've also used store bought crusts. I buy 4 crusts and roll two together for the top and two together for the bottom. It works great when you don't have the time or desire to make a homemade crust. Believe me, it took a little while to be able to "flip" the mixture into the pie plate without getting it everywhere, but after a little practice it works well. TRY IT!!! IT'S SO DELICIOUS YOU WON'T WANT ANOTHER APPLE PIE AGAIN...EVER!!!

This has become my "birthday cake" replacement each year b/c it is fantastic, though we choose to just sprinkle a little cinnamon and sugar on the top crust instead of the carmel topping . Our whole family (me, wife and young kids all work together to prepare it which just adds to making my birthday special. It is something we all enjoy doing together and eating.

Keep your superficial opinions and ratings to yourself if you haven't even tried it before.
