Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • Peanut oil, for frying

Directions

Cream the butter, cream cheese, salt and pepper together with an electric mixer until smooth. Using a very small ice cream scoop, or melon baller, form 1-inch balls of butter mixture and arrange them on a parchment or waxed paper lined sheet pan. Freeze until solid. Coat the frozen balls in flour, egg, and then bread crumbs and freeze again until solid.

When ready to fry, preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.

Fry balls for 10 to 15 seconds until just light golden. Drain on paper towels before serving.

im a culinary student and when my professor heard that deep fried butter was the "top" food at the texas and iowa state fairs... this summer he decided that our class needed to experience this gastronomic catastrophy. i of course couldnt leave well enough alone and looked up "deep fried butter" on the net and had wish i had found this recipe instead of just the article that i did find. no recipe to follow i just tried to figure out how to deep fry the butter in a batter or breading that would work. i ended up with a dough that resembled rolled dumplings, flavored with maple syrup and brown sugar, placed the butter inside and deep fried it. Amazingly it resembled in taste and texture a deep fried pancake and when you bit into it there was melted butter. Not too bad but Chef was impressed that i figured out a way to deep fry something like butter on my own creative manner with no previous knowledge of how to do so. Not a dish i would recommend on a daily basis but i did feel like i won a chopped championship!Read more

Paula didn't create this recipe. It is obvious from the show that she didn't like the recipe, but it was created by a fan on... a dare. It was a dare to see if butter could be fried. Well, obviously it can. Dare challenge won.Lighten up.Read more

With enything that tastes good seem to be bad for some part of your anatomy, you may as well enjoy real, pure butter instead... of the cholesterol clogging imit ations, and the concept of fried butter makes you want to ask, 'why didn't I think of that?" Thanks Paula - another way to wow the family.Read more

I'm SO TIRED of people thinking the SOUTH is a region filled with poor white alligator wrestlers!

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I'm from Georgia, and I'm absolutely sick and tired of people saying she's white trash because she is southern. I have to... admit there is some trash, but isn't there trash in the stupid Yankee states as well? There's trashy people everywhere. I've been to the northern yankee states, and if you want to talk about trash, you people don't have much manners at all. I went to this restaurant and can you believe that he told his mother to " f off" I couldn't believe my ears. If it was me I would have scrubbed there tongues with Lava Soap. GOOD FOOD IS NOT TRASHY FOOD! SO STOP BEING SO BOURGEISOIS! Read more

I love this recipe. But I have not yet tried it. I ave also heard another similar recipe, the deep fried butter. Do you... relish the idea of your heart exploding ? if so, you might want to try deep fried butter. Deep fried butter is a horrible idea, but that didn't stop it's creator, Abel Gonzales Jr., from doing it. He's unveiling it at the Texas State Fair. (This HAD to happen in the South.) It's described as a biscuit or croissant like breading, stuffed to the gills with butter and deep fried ? my arteries are clogging just reading about it. This is horrible food, and quite frankly, we have enough problems with obesity in this country without this guy. Seriously ? every time somebody eats deep fried butter, another cardiologist loses the need for a loan 'til payday. http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2009/09/04/deep-fried-butter/Read more
