These are the best oatmeal cookies ever!!! ...And I have made a lot of cookies. I have 3 children (teenagers now and this is our "go to" favorite cookie! In fact, they rarely even last long enough to put in the cookie jar! Thanks for all your fabulous recipes! My family thinks I am a great cook...but what I am great at is following a superb recipe!!!

My whole family loved these cookies. I did not frost them. I did plump the raisins in fruit juice. This will be one of our go to cookie recipes for sure.

Fantastic. I received so many compliments on how delicious they were. I didn't use the icing.

Stick to the Quacker Oats recipe. Shame on you Paula Dean. And shame on me for no reading the reviews first. This dough was too wet (I did verify the ingredients and it stuck horribly to the cookie sheets, even after greasing (which I've never had to do, by the way. My husband said they tasted good, but I was not impressed with the quality overall. I do like Paula's Mexican Wedding Cakes, however.

i have a huge sweet tooth, but even i couldn't handle the addition of the icing. it was way too sweet. the cookie is perfectly fine without the icing.

Really a fabulous cookie. I added a cup of bittersweet chocolate chips which turned out to be a great addition. Also, I didn't have buttermilk and was concerned about not adding that extra liquid, so I added the equivalent amount of eggnog! Subtle, but nice flavor booster.

Came out perfectly for me. I did 50% with the icing and 50% without the icing. The cookies are plenty sweet for my SERIOUS sweet tooth without the icing. I have not used Crisco when backing in forever but these are yummy. I am looking forward to them with coffee in the morning.

These were lovely- a light, delicate texture and full of flavor. Although I love brown butter in anything, the delicious frosting almost made it a little too sweet for me. The frosting is very sweet, so proceed with caution when drizzling. I added a handful of chocolate chips, thinking it could only make it better, but I would not do that next time as the chocolate seemed to clash with the spice flavors. I also plan on omitting the raising altogether because the fruity raisin flavor didn't seem to compliment the spices (in my humble opinion, anyway. I think a splash of maple syrup in the frosting would be delicious. I'll definitely make these again.
