I LOVED your cheese fudge, but was disappointed with these cookies. I cut the recipe in half, substituting vinegar and milk for buttermilk. The cookies were flat, no matter if I greased the cookie sheet or not. They are crisp and somewhat lace-like. I cut the powdered sugar with milk so they wouldn't be too sweet. Icing had a nice flavor, but I had tiny strings of icing, followed by globs. Maybe it is my lack of experience "doing fancy."

the flavor is excellent--but the batter is too thin!!
also the topping is hard to have at the right consistency--either too thick or too thin.

Just made these and they are really a wonderful cookie. I think the buttermilk is what does the trick. Anyway, for a special holiday flavor, I added rum flavoring to the icing and, wow! This is really a very nice oatmeal cookie recipe. I'll be making this again. Thanks Paula. You rock.

These were delish! I usually make the oatmeal cookie recipe on the Quaker Oat container, but tried these for a change. These are wonderful - the most flavorful oatmeal cookies yet. I was a little short on the plain oatmeal, and used two bags of the instant sugar and spice oatmeal - cookies are great!

These cookies lacked an intensity of flavor...maybe all butter would help. The texture was more cakelike than chewy and for my taste, they could be a little more sweet. I didn't try the frosting.

These cookies were wonderful! Everyone loved them and my nephew even pitched in to drizzle on the icing before devouring several.

I'm always looking for a better oatmeal cookie recipe and this might be the one. It is loaded alright. Loaded with wonderful spicy flavors and the addition of the icing really makes it special. My husband raved about them! I made the batter the night before and chilled it and rolled into balls before baking. This makes the cookies more uniform in size. And if you don't want them to spread while baking, don't grease that cookie sheet. It really isn't necessary with all the shortening in the cookie.

Loaded, means loaded with different flavors. My family and friends loved these cookies.
