This was my first time making oatmeal cookies from scratch and I was not disappointed. I made sure to read many of the reviews prior to trying the recipes and took the advice of some of the others and added an extra 1/2 cup of flour before baking them. I also lined my large cookie sheets with parchment paper and dropped the cookies on the sheets by the tablespoon and then chilled them in the fridge for about 45 minutes before baking. DELICIOUS!!! My other piece of advice is to only bake them for 12 minutes so that they don't dry out.

Some reviews about this cookie were negative but I'm so glad that I made those modifications and baked them anyway...so moise and so delicious that I could sell them in a bakeshop.

These cookies were easy to make and turned out moist on the inside, with a little crispy bite on the outside. I too, added a scant 1/2 cup of flour and then chilled the dough for a couple of hours. I lined professional sized cookie sheets with parchment paper. When I took them out of the oven, I let them set for a couple of minutes, them removed to cooling racks, with no trouble. They plumped up nicely, baked for exactly 12 minutes. The only change I made other the extra flour, was to use all butter and no shortening. These cookies are beautiful and yummy!

I made these cookies last night for my son and his girlfriend who came over for dinner; they tasted one as soon as they spotted them on the counter, and loved them even before the frosting. After dinner i put the frosting, and boy, we all dug in! when you want to serve a simple but yummy desert, this is it! For those who've had trouble with the recipe. Try omitting the buttermilk, i did, and they were perfect!

This is an excellent recipe. LOVE the spice combo, and the brown butter glaze is amazing! The only complaint I had was that the cookies flattened quite a bit during the cooking process. I live at a high altitude (Denver, so I'm sure that was the issue. I added an additional 1/2C of flour, and they came out poofier (but still chewy! I also only cooked these for 9 mins and thought that was perfect. Golden around the edges and bottom but still soft on the inside. Husband loved them.

I made these cookies and the batter is much too runny. Cookies are flat and stuck to the cookie sheet even after greasing the sheet which I never do. I will put the rest of the dough in the frig and try another batch tomorrow....

The chorale I sing in takes a break during rehearsal. As it was my turn, I took these cookies and they were a success! Comments from the Chorale Director's wife were when I commented that maybe I had not brought enough: "Well...let me tell you there were none left because they were so gosh darn delicious!"

    A delicious cookie. Thanks Paula

I made these cookies a few years ago and YUM! The only thing I thought was too much was the frosting. It made the cookies way too sweet. I now make them withouth the frosting.
