My mom and I love Paula Dean and her boys. We have made many of her recipes and have loved them all. Not this one. My mom followed the recipe to the letter and when she was mixing everything together, the batter was very stiff! It was hard to fold in the peaches. She checked the recipe again thinking she had left something out but she haden't. They looked so high and pretty. She put a cake tester in when it was done at 30 min. and it came out clean. They weren't brown though, so she left them in for another 2 min. and again the tester came out clean. She took them out and waited about 5 min. to eat one. They had deflated, like someone stuck a pin in a balloon. It looked raw in the middle! It wasn't cooked and it didn't taste very sweet, She decided to put them in again but this time at 375 to cook the middle more. It was at 375 for 10 more min. and they started to puff up again! When she let them cool, they deflated again. The insides still look raw. My mom is going to throw them out. What a waste of perfectly good ingredients. At the end of the reipe it says This recipe was provided bt professional chefs and has been scaled down form a bulk recipe provided by a restaurant. The Food Network Kitchens chefs have not tested this recipe, in the proporations indicated, and therefore, we cannot make any representation as to the results. Maye that's the reason?

I'm not really sure why people don't like these. I made them and tasted the batter before I baked it and so I doubled the sugar and put in another dollop of sour cream. Other than that these were great. They were not soggy at all. I baked them in the bigger muffin pans so it only made 9 but that was ok with me. I loved them and will make them again.

To everyone that didn't like them...give them another chance

I love making muffins and was so excited when I saw Paula Deen make these peaches and cream muffins on the Food Network. Could anything sound more delicious? I followed the recipe to a T, and to my great disappointment these muffins came out tasteless, soggy, and un-edible. I let the muffins cook for 35 minutes, cool in the pan for 10 minutes... still soggy. All I can fathom is that ingredients were left out of the recipe.

I don't know why so many of you didn't like these muffins. They are sooooo good and easy to make. All that butter makes these babies so moist and yummy. I did increase the sugar, I think I doubled it. They are my new "easy desert".

I made these last night and they turned out fine. Weren't as sweet as I would've liked, but had a nice flavor. Were also too greasy. So, next time I'd add a half a cup of sugar, lessen the butter by a half stick, and add a little cinnamon. Mine weren't soggy, but fluffy, and I attribute that to me baking them for 35 minutes and letting them cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then cooling on a wire rack until cool (since I wasn't planning to eat them right away. I also used muffin cups and that might've kept them "together" while baking. Warming them in the microwave for 20 seconds once cool is recommended, too, since there's so much butter. I'd definitely make again.

I am an avid Paula Deen fan and prepare many of her dishes. I must say I was totally dissatisfied with this recipe. I found the muffins to be extremely heavy with very little taste. I must say they were much better with honey over them.

I don't know what all the bad stars are about! this is now my favorite new muffin.. they aren't too sweet but that's okay with me. I love the bits of peaches in there and the flavor and consistancy is wonderful. Keep it up Paula, I love your recipes and your show..

I made this recipe after watching it on television.
The muffins looked good but came out of the pan a bit soggy, I would let them cook at least 35 minutes if I wanted to waste that much butter, sour cream and peaches again.
The taste was very bland, maybe they needed more sugar, cinnamon or something. But in my opinion they did not measure up to good Paula Deen Southern Cooking.

I looked over the comments and freaked out a bit, b/c I'm new to this site and didn't check the site before I bought the ingredients and planned on making the muffins. My mom and I read over them all, made some changes and the end result tastes phenomenal. The ONLY critique I have is that the were not so easy to get out of the pan, so while they tasted great, the muffins weren't too pretty.
Our changes: 1 stick of butter, no vanilla, 1.5 cups of flour, little less than 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon, 1 cup of sugar and we softened the butter before mixing (no melt.

Despite the reviews and low rating, I made these muffins for a breakfast at my church. I was so disappointed in them that I would not bring them, threw them out and made a different recipe. I followed the directions exactly and they looked great when I took them out of the oven, but fell rapidly. They had to be cooled to get the "unbaked" look out of the center. A total waste of good butter.
