Directions

1 (18 1/2-ounce) package chewy fudge brownie mix (recommended: Duncan Hines)

1 (12-ounce) package peanut butter chips or 24 miniature peanut butter cups

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 24 regular muffin cups with paper cupcake liners.

Prepare the brownie mix according to package directions for cake-like brownies. Fill the cups half full with brownie batter. Place about 1 tablespoon peanut butter chips in the center of the batter, or press 1 peanut butter cup into the batter in each muffin cup until the batter meets the top edge of the peanut butter cup.

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until the cupcakes are set. When they can be handled safely, remove them from the muffin tins and let cool completely on wire racks. Store in an airtight container.

Very easy but very yummy!! And special enough to take for events. Definitely better then just plain brownie cupcakes and you can always make a scratch recipe, if you think the box makes it too simple.

I made some with Reese's cups and also some York Peppermint Patties since my husband prefers chocolate and mint over chocolate and PB. The kids tried them and raved!!

    Will definitely make again!!
Easy, easy, easy and the kids loved it.
My coworkers loved these. Even the super healthy guy had a second! They've come to expect big swirls of frosting so I added some from a cupcake wars recipe, it was called Chocolate Peanut Butter Ball Cupcake I had planned to also swirl ganache but for easier cupcake packing, I like to frost once getting to where I'm going and wouldn't have been able to keep the ganache warm. Will make again but will also always add the frosting.
These were so yummy, easy, cheap and quick. A perfect combo. Don't be afraid of the peanut butter chips. I'll add more of a heaping tablespoon of the chips next time. It only yielded 12 cupcakes for me. Maybe if you use the cups it would yield more?
Made these just now! They turned out so well I'm making another batch! I can't wait to surprise the family with these for 4th of July. They're so easy to make and so delicious!
They were very tasty and enjoyed by my company. The recipe is a bit misleading. It only made 15 cupcakes. Had I filled each cup 1/2way as directions stated, it would have yielded even less. Very yummy though!
This is a fantasically simple recipe. You don't know that it is a mix. It is just like a homemade one with less time & effort. At a church dinner they are the first dessert to go.. Hat's off to Paula Deen. I have always been what I call a Cake doctor. I can take a dreaded MIX cake and add a few magic touches that makes it like homemade and that is what we all need in the this NO time world..
Recipe or not, this was a big hit! Super easy to do but a great twist on the typical brownie. Even my boyfriend liked them, and he's not big on chocolate.
I have to agree with gkelly5744. What's up with the box mix? There's nothing homemade about this recipe at all. Just home baked.
    sooooo good!
This is yummy with Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie mix. Just mix the peanut butter chips in with the mix. Sour apples to the reviewer that rated this one star and doesn't use packaged mixes. You are missing out on an easy delicious dessert.
I printed this recipe for thanksgiving dinner. I know they will be a big hit. It's choclate and peanut-butter. Two perfect combos!!!
Wonderful!!!! I've made these cupcakes several times and it just doesn't get any easier than this.
I made these for a block party and they were a huge hit down to the last crumb! Who says you always have to make everything from scratch? As someone who usually does, this "recipe" is great when you are short on time. I love the brownie cupcake concept...very yummy! Great idea Paula!
These were quick, easy and tasty! My family loves them with vanilla ice cream.
box cake mix & a bag of peanut butter cups?? this is something expected of Paula these days...no wonder it has such a good rating!! Who could mess this up...adding water & oil ..bake..whoa!! this is NOT a recipe!!
I've made this recipe on several occassions and have even used different flavor of chips -- white chocolate, mint, toffee, as well as peanut butter. People always rave about them. Yes, it is a simple recipe, and if all of Paula's recipes were this simple I could see why people complain, But this is the simplest recipe I've seen from Paula and I think it was a nice addition to a show with more complex dishes. Like many others I appreciate this recipe and enjoy Paula immensely.
This recipe is so easy that you forget how unique it is. Such a simple pleasure. Peanut butter + Chocolate forever! I use dark chocolate brownie mix and it's even better. Try it!
you are rude! why does it matter what the ingredients are? they'd probably come out the same if you made homemade cakelike brownies!!ooo how about you get over it. this was such a yummyyyyy recipe and its fast!! I looove you palua! and forget all the lame bashers they are just hatin' :)
I made this because of the rating it had and my kids and husband did not like it. So I tried it and I did not like it. Here at my house it was a no.
This was a super easy and yummy recipe! Who would of thought to put a mini peanut butter cup in the middle and have it taste wonderful. Thanks Paula for the tip.
This was a truly terrific recipe! who knew something so simple could pack so much flavor! i was so pleased with this recipe and so were all my guests! To all of the snobs out there who say this recipe isn't good simply because all it requires is a box of brownie mix and a bag of peanut butter chips....get a grip! this recipe is awesome and if you removed your head from your butt for just a minute you would realize that. Paula your amazing keep doing what your doing girl!
how do i get the cupcake to come out with a DOME? they always come out flat.
Shame on Food Network. Duncan Hines brownie mix plus peanut butter chips? That's not a recipe, it's a joke. I agree with other comments: This belongs in a "Mommy and Me" cookbook for children. One star.
I have to give this a 1 because it sure doesn't deserve the 5 it has. A box of brownies and a bag of chips does not constitute a 5 star recipe - especially on Food Network... this belongs in a "Mommy and Me" cook book.
I just wanted to thank you for such a great recipe. It is so nice to find something I can do in a short time, without a lot of complications. I really appreciate this great summer time treat!
See I personally LOVE Paula! I see her recipe as super simple peanut butter brownies! Thats exactly what I searched in google, this recipe is perfect and fast for someone who is clueless in kitchen! Not that I am as I can make any flipping thing! But I wanted to find something different for my sons treats! just because you think something isnt for you dont make it bad! So Go Blow!

    I love ya Paula!!!!
this was a very good and simple recipe. instead of cupcakes i just did regular brownies and everyone loved it. paula u are the best no matter what other negative things people may say or write on here. people just because your brownies didnt come out like paula'a doesnt mean it's her fault u made the brownies not her.. come on yall need to get it 2getha and focus on other things besides tryna let others down paula keep up the good work we love your show.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My 11 year old son made these & they were delicious!!! He used a small cookie scoop & only got 15 cupcakes. I think it's better if you put in 2 TB batter on bottom, a few peanut butter chips in the center, then 2 TB batter on top. As soon as you remove from the oven, top each cupcake with a few peanut butter chips so they will stay on the cupcake. Next time, we'll try it with the mini Reese's.
The Reese's Peanut Butter eggs were great in the brownies and the whole family loved the recipe. I just used a brownie mix I had and they made about 15 cupcakes. ANother great Paula recipe.
