I tried this recipe b/c all of the reviews were good. I personally didn't think the shrimp were seasoned enough. The only thing I tasted was vinegar. It was way too vinegary for me, maybe with a few adjustments this could be an okay appetitizer.

My husband loves all things pickled so I tried this recipe for him. We both loved it, but both felt it needed salt. Next time, I will either add salt to the water I use to cook the shrimp or dissolve a little in the vinegar. Incidentally, I recently learned that apple cider vinegar in the quart jar is much different than apple cider vinegar by the gallon. Definitely use the quart size and the vinegar will be sweeter and milder. Also, don't make the same mistake I made and use shrimp that are too small. I recommend a 30-35 count.

Tasty, but lost its appeal after several days of snacking.

I had my family in town for the weekend and wanted some easy prepare-ahead food ready for snacking. I saw this on the show and had to try it--and my entire family is glad I did!! We ate 2 jars worth over the weekend, and my sister just asked me for the recipe. This is easy and has quite a surprising flavor. Even my husband who doesn't like vinegar, loved this! Make the crackers too--they are perfect together.

Thank you, Paula, for sharing Michael's
shrimp recipe. It truly lends itself to entertaining since I can make it a week or more in advance of an occasion. Hey Michael!!---any more recipes you can share would be GREATLY appreciated.

I made this recipe for a potluck I had been invited to and it was a big hit! The next time I made it, I remembered a time when I had made flavored vinegars for Christmas gifts. The one everyone liked was a mulled cider vinegar, so I decided to rev up this recipe by using mulling spices. When layering the onions, garlic, peppercorns, bayleaves, et al., I also added cinnamon sticks, whole allspice berries, and whole cloves. The mulling spices gave the pickled shrimp an extra kick and I was deluged with requests for the recipe at the party!

I normally make this recipe with the following changes (for those of you that think the vinegar taste is too strong, this is much better,
For the marinade, mix together:
1 1/4 c. oil
6 T. vinegar
2 t. salt
1/8 t. pepper
1/4 t. paprika
1 T. lemon juice
1 1/2 T Worcestershire
6-8 drops hot sauce
I also add 2 large cans drained, button mushrooms to mixture which is very flavorful. Follow Paula's directions as far as other ingredients.
