At first no one could figure out what was in the casserole. The combination of ingredients sounds strange but it is delicious. Anywhere you bring it you will leave with an empty dish and numerous requests for the recipe.

Used a good block of sharp cheddar that I shredded finley. Cut back on the butter for the topping as well. Served ham as the main event- this was the perfect side. Husband loved it! Easy & inexpensive.

This is a outstanding casserole but you need to use freshly grated cheese not the already shredded in packages as the packaged cheese will not always melt.I also use the chunks in their own juice and reduce the sugar by half...great eating

Ok..it's time. I have NEVER written a review even though many recipes are really good. I cook for our church. I made this for our widows Christmas luncheon. It was the topic of their conversation. They were guessing the ingredients. Some thought coconut,, some thought brown sugar, some thought sweet potatoes. All thought delicious! I was a little worried but trusted the reviews. It was really a winner. For those of you who thinks it is necessary to "change" the recipe... DON'T! Just trust me.

This is now a staple at Thanksgiving and Christmas! Is easy, and can be eaten cold the next day or reheated! Love it .....love Paula Deen! When we ate at the Lady, she acted as if we were just her next door neighbors! So gracious and warm.

Made this for my daughters Thanksgiving dinner at her school and it was a hit. Everyone was asking for the recipe. Even when I was making it at home the smell of it made my dad go crazy.

Went great with the ham at Easter dinner. Half of my guests were Jewish and keeping Passover so I made this with 3 tablespoons potato starch instead of flour and for the topping used matzo crackers instead of Ritz. I also decreased the sugar to 3/4 cup, half brown and half white, and only used 2 tablespoons melted butter and 2 tablespoons juice for the topping. After the initial skepticism, "It's pineapple and cheese???" they ate it all!
