Made this for my daughters Thanksgiving dinner at her school and it was a hit. Everyone was asking for the recipe. Even when I was making it at home the smell of it made my dad go crazy.

Went great with the ham at Easter dinner. Half of my guests were Jewish and keeping Passover so I made this with 3 tablespoons potato starch instead of flour and for the topping used matzo crackers instead of Ritz. I also decreased the sugar to 3/4 cup, half brown and half white, and only used 2 tablespoons melted butter and 2 tablespoons juice for the topping. After the initial skepticism, "It's pineapple and cheese???" they ate it all!

Went perfect with the Easter ham! I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup, I added about 1/4 cup of the reserved juice to the pineapple mixture. For the topping, I reduced the butter to 1/2 stick and omitted the juice. It was perfect and my topping was nice and crunchy! I put it all in an 8x8 glass dish sprayed with pam. Can't wait to try it again. Next time I will try it with fresh pineapple.

I also have been making this for years. But I use 3/4 cup of Stevia instead of sugar. My family and friends love it. It will be on the menu for Easter.

I thought this was not going to be good and I was SO WRONG!!.. This is fabulous. We had it with ham at Christmas. Make sure to grate your own cheese, fine would be best. Store bought grated does not melt good. Also serve it right out of the oven piping hot. I am so glad I tried this. It is yummy. Who would have thought, cheese and pinapple? TRY it!

I've had this recipe for about 15 yrs. It's always been a hit at any gathering.I have changed it up a little every once in awhile by adding chunky applesauce or sweet potatoes to the pineapple. Both are good. This is an old Southern recipe..In fact, the co-worker that gave it to me couldn't remember where she got it from but who would have thought pineapple and cheese would go so well together!!!

Ol' Pauler hit a homer with this one. Next time I make it, I'm going to try half white sugar and half brown, or all brown. Goes together easily, goes down even more easily.

Made this as a side dish for a ham dinner for 40 people. It was gone before anything else. Everyone was hesitant to try it, but once they did, they finished it off having seconds and thirds. I did use a block of cheese rather than pregrated, as per other reviewers suggestions. It turned out delicious. Wonderful textures and flavors. Not too sweet, Just perfect. Will definitely make again. It was excellent hot, and warm, and cold! Really really great retro southern recipe!

This is a crowd pleaser! I took this dish to a Christmas party this week and so many people asked for the recipe I had to post it on Facebook. Thanks, Paula Deen for making me so popular!! I did tell them it was your recipe!
