This is an old recipe that has floated around offices and casserole exchanges for years in the south. Been making it for years, and so has my mom and aunts. Sounds weird and is a cool dish to wow and weird your guests out. Yes it is weird to mix cheese and pineapples. Always go with Ritz crackers as brands and types do not have enough saltiness and get soggy.

I made this last night for my family not really knowing what to expect. It turned out great! The flavors and the textures were like a cobbler (and I love cobblers. I think its best use is as a comforting dessert served with ice cold milk. If you ever get tired of peach cobbler make this for a nice change!

A friend brought this to a Hawaiian themed pot luck that we had for our craft night. It was delicious as is, and would suggest it to any one. But I couldnt actually taste the cheese, and it didnt melt very well. it left rubbery little bits in with the good stuff. I think i might leave the cheese out if i make it, or use a better cheddar, not sure. I will probably reduce the sugar a bit too, because it was really sweet, not enough to make not want to eat it, mind you. Any one who doubtfull about this one, go ahead and try it, it is very good.

Very rich, almost like a desert...but very decadent and different. I love it! So does my family.

I first had this at a dinner party buffet & it was an absolute New Taste sensation. Everyone was asking what it was & the guys kept sneaking over & lingering around the casserole picking at it b/c you just couldn't stay out of it... sooo good. My friend took it to her husband's holiday work potluck and it got the same response.. what is this? who made this? can I get the recipe??! Make sure you use a good quality cheddar cheese that melts is my only advise so it turns out perfect everytime!

With this scrumpious dish, who needs ham! Don't have to wait for Easter or a holiday either. I make this dish for the two of us and sometimes all we need are 2 spoons! Then we go for a long walk but its all worth it. Flavors just go well together so........ Thanks Paula. It's a keeper.

why is everyone so shocked that pineapple is good with cheese? Pineapple has been served on pizza for YEARS and of course that is covered with cheese!
this is a dish that has been a favorite of mine at TN family reunions for as long as i can remember. i've seen other versions with no sugar or flour added and they are just wonderful too.
i'm glad Paula is getting the word out about this. you could always use less butter too, not just less flour or sugar.

I made this for a Easter potluck. Everyone really liked it, I should have made a double recipe. I wasn't sure about the combination at first but then I thought that a lot of people put cheese with apple pie. I also used tidbits because that's all that I had. I will diffinately be making this again. Thanks Paula!
