Made this for dinner last night. WOW!! Husband loved it too! I used a chuck roast and it was simple awesome. This is going into the dinner rotation ASAP so I can make another one! Thanks Paula on another successful "new" dinner recipe.

I was excited to make this as I have tried TONS of pot roast and beef stew recipes. I thought this would be good because she uses cream of mushroom soup which I use in my PERFECT beef stew crockpot recipe. I saved this recipe for my dad's birthday dinner tonight and was SO DISAPPOINTED. UGH... I think mainly it was the cut of meat. It was sooooo fatty. Normally I use rump roast. I will NEVER use this cut of meat again. So fatty and made the gray super greasy. I have tried tons of these pot roast recipes, crock pot or not (i'm a poet and didn't even know it! LOLand this is definitely not a keeper. Sorry Paula. You're not famous and rich for nothing so sure you have better recipes than this one out there. Harry Conick Junior really loved this? UGH.... He should come to my house for my crock pot roast! It's to die for! LOL

This recipe for pot roast was AWESOME...the only thing I changed was the "mushroom soup" I used a can of "onion soup" instead since me and my family doesn't like mushrooms and it turned out delicious!! I've tried this recipe on family & friends and I have gotten wonderful reviews on it!! I've also paired this roast with some roasted vegetables which works perfectly!

My family loved this recipe. I would have given it a 5 star rating, although it was a bit salty and will adjust the recipe accordingly next time! Roasted some root vegetables to pair with this and it was delicious...

This is a house favorite!! Everybody loves this meal!! I do alter the house seasoning (I use the same amount for all 3 ingredients. I also do not use the additional salt and pepper. All other steps I follow to a T. SUPER DEE-licious!!!

I decided to use Canadian Steak Seasoning as my rub and it was the perfect choice! I prepared everything in a dutch oven and had removed the extra seasoning bits before they burnt prior to sautéing the onions and garlic. It was so tender and tasty.... used what little left overs the next day in some vegetable beef soup with a loaf of bread... Yummm!

After reading through many reviews, I'm glad I decided to make this. I did make a few slight changes based on the reviews and what I had on hand. I did not add the extra salt or boullion granules and water, and instead substituted beef stock. I also did not have a red wine open so I used a sherry wine. The taste was great though it was still salty. Next time I will use reduced sodium broth and soup. The gravy came out great! I had a smaller cut of meat so cooked it for less time and then just put my pot (I used a Le Crueset dutch oven instead of a roasting pan on a burner on simmer. About 30 minutes before dinner was served I cut the meat and let it absorb the gravy. Yummy! Will definitely make it again.

I thought this ended up salty as well and the only salt I added was when braising the beef. Still I thought the overall flavor was really good. I would opt for a low sodium cream of mushroom soup when I make it next time.
