I made this pot roast for company last night and was it great! I doubled the recipe thinking I would have leftovers but that didn't happen. I cooked this for a couple of missionaries from my church. One has not been home in about a year. I had asked him what meal he missed the most and he said "pot roast". I never saw someone eat so much at one sitting!!! I cooked 7 lbs of beef and only had a small peice left. This will now be the only pot roast recipe I will use. Easy to make thats for sure! I added carrots and celery after 1 1/2 hrs of cooking. Meat was so tender, it just pulled apart. Thanks Paula!!! I aways used one of those pot roast bags. Never new how good pot roast could be!!!

WOW!!! The family loved it!!! I seen the episode a couple of Saturday mornings ago and thought about this roast ever since. I made it this evening for my family of 6. Even the one picky eater out of all of us, loved it! Another must try is the chocolate mousse pie from this episode. I actually made the pie the Sunday after this episode aired and another WOW!!!!!!

great and easy to do. I added one item my Mother always put in for taste and moistness, 1 large can of tomatoes, I used lasrge uncut, just quartered them. Pomodoros or crushed or diced also works. Use the entire can, include the liquid. If you use fresh tomatoes quareter them also, add water.

In my opinion there aren't enough stars in the ratings for this pot roast. I have three kids and rarely do I find something that they will all eat. My husband and I barely got any - it was so good.
I write a local cooking column, Cook's Corner, and I'm always looking for new recipes to try (find it at www.livinglakecountry.com and you can be sure that this recipe (credit given to Ms. Paula Deen will be in my next column. It was delicious and I can't wait to make it again. Definite comfort food at its best.
