This Pot Roast is wonderful ! I too have been cooking roasts for years.I did get my roast at Whole Foods. Pricey but so worth it. I am a big salt fan however, next time I will probably cut it back a tad. I took the advice of other reviewers and added sliced fresh mushrooms, potatoes and cut up carrots. The battle is over. This recipe is going with me until the end !!

I've been cooking pot roasts for longer years than I care to say...and this is the best recipe I've found! I've read a lot of the reviews and honestly I wouldn't change a thing! It's so tender and flavorful! If the idea of cream of mushroom bother's you, as other's suggested, you could try a different flavor of soup. For my family...my hunt for the ultimate pot roast recipe is over.

It's OK...too much fuss for the end result....which was nothing to rave about

This is the most delicious pot roast ever! I added a container of sliced mushrooms and doubled the gravy portion of the recipe. Absolutely delicious! Next time I will try using low sodium soup as it was just a little bit salty for me.

This is the best ever pot roast recipe. I prefer the Dutch oven method that only takes a few hours vs the crock pot. I added mushrooms to the recipe and it turned out spectacular. The gravy is also outstanding. I substituted cream of mushroom with roasted garlic and omitted the garlic because that is what I had on hand. This is our new favorite for pot roast!

My husband and I both agree this is the best Chuck ROast recipe ever! I thought I had a pretty good one for the crock pot but this is way over the top!

Delicious! I used portabella mushroom bisque soup, marsala wine with a bit more Worcestershire sauce & added miniature potatoes and sliced carrots...simply amazing!
I can't wait to do it again...but next time I'm adding more liquid, the gravy just wasn't enough.
