This is the BEST potato soup I've ever had! I make it constantly and when I serve it to others, they ask for the recipe. The only things I do different are put more shrimp than specified in the recipe (sometimes I use baby shrimp too and instead of using the cheese and bacon as a garnish, I throw it all in and use about a pound of cheese--it's AMAZING!!! Paula Deen, you are the best!!!

My family LOVES this soup, so much in fact that my daughter requested it for her Birthday dinner this week. This was about the 20th time to make it since finding this recipe. I use ham instead of shrimp, just because that is what the kids prefer. I also throw in a little diced celery, if I have it. I cannot get my potatoes to cook in the 15 minutes, however, it usually takes closer to 30.
This is one of our favorite things to make in the winter. Thanks Paula for such great recipes!

Delish!! I added a bit more shrimp than called for, as well as 1/2 teaspoon of garlic, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (for a kick, and some fresh parsley for color.

Paula, I love you. This was perfect for our Lenten soup night. I used Old Bay instead of salt and pepper, which gave it a little kick. Everyone enjoyed it. Thanks!

The whole family loved it. The toppings give the soup some extra flavor I thought it needed. I especially loved how fast and easy it was to make the whole thing. A keeper!

Super yummy but I used smoked ham instead of shrimp and left out the bacon and used chives as garnish.

As I'm cooking this I'm wondering...did anyone else have a problem with getting the potatoes to soften and mush in milk in 15 minutes? It seems to be a good recipe so I'll keep working on it but the way it's going so far, I think I just wasted a whole pot! Still Love you Paula! ^_^

Excellent recipe. One thing I did (and I know it's not healthy, but man did it taste good!!, is I fried up a pound of bacon, crumbled it up, and mixed it with the soup along with the bacon grease. Wow, it was awesome!!!!
