I made this the first time I saw Paula make it on t.v. It looked so good! I did it exactly like the recipe instructed and it was wonderful. With that in mind, I am not always in the mood for gingerbread. It's a bit strong at times. So, I thought of alternatives to using gingerbread and decided to try simple Spice Cake. Well....it was YUMMY!!!! So now, I make it both ways during the holidays. This year, I will bake the pumpkins...can't wait.

I have been making this dish since I seen it 3 years ago. My family loved it!! And now it is a must have for every Thanksgiving. My children all take turns doing each layer, I also took it last year to my friends house and everyone there wanted to take it home. Thank You Paula for this recipe!!

I made this for Thanksgiving and didn't get to dig into it because I went into labor, so I had my husband bring up the entire dish so the nurses and doctors could try it. Twenty minutes later they brought me back my dish and slowly everyone who had some came in to thank me for the treat!

I've been making this dish for a couple of years now. It is always requested for the holiday parties I attend. It is my son-in-laws personal favorite. I much prefer it over pumpkin pie. I seem to be pie crust challenged also. I have even been requested to bring it for Easter this year.

My family loves this dessert. This has become my 12 year olds special dessert to make on Thanksgiving or Christmas - she's so proud to present it to our guests! It tastes even better the second day.

This is utterly amazing! And so easy! My family loved it, say it must become part of the family standards. The recipe makes a huge amount. I will cut it down next time.

I made this last year for an office pot-luck and got rave reviews. It was requested again this year. My husband insisted that we bring it to the family Christmas Eve party. Again it was a big hit. Received several requests for the recipe. I agree with the others, one box of gingerbread mix is plenty. I used Trader Joe's gingerbread mix which was extra "gingery." They also have "Triple Ginger Gingersnaps" made with ground, fresh, and crystallized ginger which was perfect for the topping. I think I'm going to have to make another for an upcoming New Year's Eve party! Great recipe Paula.
(and there wasn't even any butter required!

    Thanks Paula! This was awesome!

I am not a big pumpkin pie fan so I thought this might please everyone, including me. I followed the advice of other reviewers and used one box of gingerbread and it was perfect!

My favorite part was eating the leftovers the next morning with coffee! Mmmmm!

Every holiday we make this recipe for our friends and our family. It's great. Make one yourself! It's super easy to make, just be sure that you have a large enough dish. We use a cake dish turned upside down when we make it. Feeds the hole family, and you'll even have leftovers...maybe.

    A+!

This recipe was simple and tasty! My husband always requests the same boring pumpkin pie, and I offered this as an option to him in light of giving something new a try. When asked, he said he would prefer this over the pumpkin pie. I am personally not a huge fan of pumpkin pie, but really liked this trifle. The layers were light and tasty. The spices were adequate. If needed, you can always add a little more spice to the pumpkin/pudding layer if that is what you prefer. The trifle looks gorgeous in red wine glasses.
