Best Pumpkin Pie I've ever made! Everyone in my family that usually hates pumpkin pie LOVES when I make this.. I do add nutmeg and a little more cinnamon and ginger than the recipe calls for. Also, mine took a bit longer than 50 minutes and my pie crusts end up burning :( Other than that, this pumpkin pie is a BIG winner with pumpkin pie lovers and haters alike!

This was my first time using a Paula Dean recipe. I had to admit I was a little frustrated because as some people mentioned in their reviews it made double the amount which was fine. I just made 4 pies instead of 2. However the frustrating aspect was the time it took to cook. It took more than double the time for all four pies to cook. My concern was the crust. I also added more of the spices. I thought it added more to the flavor. I liked the recipe but I didn't love it. The flavor was good but not enough to make me re-do this recipe again.

I cannot believe so many people rated this recipe so high. Followed recipe exactly and thought it tasted very bland and boring. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be a cheesecake or a pumpkin pie...tasted like neither and not even like a pumpkin cheesecake cause I've been there and made those too. Sooo glad I made a traditional homemade pumpkin pie as well for Thanksgiving. Maybe a LOT more cinnamon, nutmeg, clove or even pumpkin spice would have helped.

This pie was a big hit at Thanksgiving and was requested again as a "just because" pie. Followed the recipe exactly except for substituted 1 cup flavored coffee mate (non dairy creamer for the half and half. Came out great. Had filling left over. Thank you so much Paula!

I made this pie last year and yet again this year. The filling overflows the crust a little but it turns out perfect. The only changes I make is adding a little more cinnamon and nutmeg instead of ginger.

Obviously the writer of the recipe has not actually cooked the recipe. I ended up using the filling to make 3 pies, none of which cooked in 50 minutes at 350. This makes no sense. Also my pie ended up tasting like fried chicken rather than pumpkin. Next time I'm going to wing it.
How did anybody make this work?
