This Thanksgiving was my 1st attempt at making any type of dessert roll. My entire family loved it. It was gone way before the pumpkin pie. Since we do have young ones around the house during the holidays I subbed rum extract for the dark rum. Thanks Paula

Not sure why some had trouble w/proportion of filling or why their cake seemed to be dry. Maybe altitude plays a role? I made this for Thanksgiving 2007 and it was PERFECT. I couldn't find toffee, so I substituted crushed pecans. Yum.

It was tasty but the proportion of filling to cake was overpowering. I would have preferred more cake and less filling.

When I found this recipe I wasn't sure whether it was the same one my grandmother used to make every Christmas Eve. I was so happy upon putting the recipe to the test that it was everything I had hoped for. Even the aroma coming from the oven was enough to take me back to years gone by. It has now become a part of our Christmas celebration for a new generation and the ones to come. Thank you so much!

I attempted to make this cake recently and it did not turn out well at all. It looked fantastic and had great presentation, but I had to throw it away because it tasted so bad! The texture of the cake was very sponge-like and dry. The cake had almost no flavor. It was like eating cardboard. I normally adore everything Paula makes but this one was not worth the effort I put into it.
