I HAVE MADE OTHER RED VELVET CUPCAKES BUT NOE AS GOOD AS THESE. THEY ARE LIGHT,TASTY,PRETTY AND JUST AWESOME. THE FROSTING WILL BE ONE RECIPE I WILL ALWAYS USE.

I'd have to say that these cupcakes were the most tasteless/bitter things I have ever eaten. Perhaps the absence of butter (a popular Deen ingredientcontributed to their non-taste. Although they won great praise for their appearance at my Memorial Day picnic, the praise stopped right there. I have cooked and baked often with buttermilk and vinegar, but these cupcakes totally missed the boat in every way (except for the cream cheese frosting from the can! Sorry Paula...go back to the test kitchen on these! The cupcakes along with the recipe went into the trash can!

I tried to like these cupcakes because I am a huge Paula Deen fan. But, these are just too oily. The cupcake was very moist and the red color was very pretty. The taste of the cake was just ok but nothing special.

these were fantastic! so smooth and moist, and actually the color darkened and flavors developed after cooling, the cake wasn't as tasty when it first came out of the oven. Also, I halved the recipe of the frosting and still had extra. My husband said they were as good as the cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery!

I made these to take to a church function and I think they will be a hit! We love taking Paula's ideas and sharing them with others. My wife was very impressed with how these turned out and we could have eaten the frosting by itself by the spoonful.

These actually turned out really well. I halved the recipe because there's only 4 of us. They were moist and tasty and went together fairly quickly. To help with the "greasy" bottom of the liners, I just set my cupcakes on a paper towel lined cooling rack. The cupcakes themselves were not greasy at all. I also frosted them with buttercream. My kids have requested I make them again for the 4th of July.

Teh cupcakes looked far better on TV than in real life. They weren't as moist as Paula indicated and not nearly as sweet as a cupcake should be - rathter bitter.
