I've been making the Red Velvet Cake since I got married in 1972 and it's wonderful. I decided to make the cupcakes for a family reunion. What a disappointment!
Luckily I had made chocolate cupcakes and pecan pie bars. The cupcakes were like hockey pucks. Hard, depressed in the middle and were an awful color. Sorry Paula---------NOT GOOD AT ALL!

my daughter first showed me this recipie after she came home from her granparents and it was amazing. some of the best cupcakes ive ever made.

This recipe makes really hot pink cupcakes and the icing on top is gorgeous. Great for wedding showers!

i love this recipe this is my favorite cake ive made, my husband loves choclate so he loved i didnt know the red in the cake with red food die, so anyways i love it.

I made this recipe for the first time and it was amazing! I don't understand why its not turning out for some people but it worked wonders for me. One thing i did differently was I used jumbo muffin tins instead of the small ones (this is how Paula did it on the show The baking time may be a few minutes longer just keep a close eye on them!

I always watch Paula Deen's show and tried this recipe with great anticipation. After I made this recipe I ate one of the cupcakes. It tasted like cooked flour which makes me wonder if the recipe shown online is accurate. Could some of the measurements be inaccurate? I truly expected the cakes to be FABULOUS, but I was so disappointed. Maybe someone could check the recipe and see if it is correct.

The Velvet cupcakes were a nice change from my normal chocolate treats. Everyone was surprised to see the bright red color of the cupcake after they took off the holder. The cream cheese frosting was to die for!
