Great recipe. I seasoned the chops with Monterey chicken seasoning. Served the chops on the grits - yum yum. Have leftovers for tonight. Paula never let's me down with great recipes. The Deen Brother's cookbook is awesome also.

Good, not great. The pork chops were a little bland, but the grits were good.

Damn Paula, so good! My Hawaiian husband ate GRITS and loved them. I cut back a little on the Butter. Thanks

Just watched the show and am ready to go to the kitchen. I think Bobby said 4 cups of milk but even if it was 5, Paula put a stick of butter in, 1/2 cup, 1/2 to 1 cup of cheese and 8 pices of bacon. Seems to me that ought to thicken it considerably. We'll see. Sure looks great.....Just made the grits.Didn't have bacon which would have made it. I used Jim Dandy brand. 1/2 stick of butter just fine and I only used 4 cups of milk which thickened when cold but even with 1/2 c to 1 cup sharp cheddar it was not to thick. I was surprised there was still a bit of sweetness.

Just watched the show and I will definitely try it. Krista270 you can probably substitute anything for the grits including mashed potatoes. Jamie said that it might take 30 mins. to cook the grits even if they are 5 min. grits. He said it used all 5 C. of milk and he might add a little 1/2 & 1/2 in the end if they are too thick. There was a Quaker Oats ad so that's probably what they used if they are a sponsor.

I made this dish on New Year's Eve for a few friends. They LOVED it. The only issue I had was I measured 5 cups of milk with a liquid measuring cup and it seemed to be WAY too much liquid for the amount of grits. I sat there watching it boil and it just wasn't coming together. I added another 3/4 cup of grits and it cooked up correct almost immediately. I used quick cook Quaker grits. I am not sure if it was the brand name of the grits I used or what. I see no other comments on here regarding problems with the grit ratio.

I also cooked my pork chops for 7 minutes total and they were perfectly done. A full 10 minutes may have dried them out. But, I did notice that the butcher gave me thin pork chops. So depending on your thickness, you may want to adjust the cooking time.

The recipe itself though, is great. I received many compliments on the flavor and everything looked great!

Jamie said he thought this dish may be the best of his mom's he's tasted, so I was expecting a lot. AND it delivered! This is delicious. My adult son, still a bit of a picky eater, had never eaten grits. He had two helpings! The only thing I will change the next time is to reduce the amount of grits. One cup uncooked is about twice as much as needed for the four pork chops. Otherwise, YUM!
