My nephew and his wife invited us to Thanksgiving dinner this year. Along with my son and his girl, the four of them made this recipe for 15 hungry people. They doubled the recipe for sauce so we could have the option of putting some more sauce at the table, too. It was delicious. You have to like the taste of bourbon, though. Just about everyone was raving about how different the sauce with the turkey tasted and wanted the recipe. We talked about using the sauce with ham, chicken and other meats in the future.
Wonderful recipe for turkey. God bless that Paula Dean!

I've tried many turkeys over the years, but this is the first one I've ever made and this recipe is absolutely amazing. The glaze is just mouthwatering. I added baby carrots around the turkey as well and they turned out tender, delicious, and perfectly seasoned. The turkey was moist and the glaze over it was perfect. The whole family devoured it (even the ones that aren't too fond of turkey! I will be making this again for christmas dinner! Can't wait!

This year, my contribution to the Thanksgiving feast was the Turkey.. so, I decided to experiment with Tom.. I have always in the past avoided volunteering to cook one because my past experiences have not been that great. ALWAYS DRY.. but, this year, I decided to step out of the box and try one more time... I looked at several recipes on this site, but Paula's by far looked awesome.... and it was.. I absolutely couldn't believe how moist the turkey was.. I bought a Honeysuckle this year, approximately 14lbs and I followed the directions to the "T" . My family was awe-struck when I removed the aluminum foil... It looked just exactly like the picture shown, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING was left except the carcass of course !! YA'LL have got to try this.... thank you so much Paula... This recipe sounded so good I just had to try it. And it was everything I imagined! Everyone was picking at the skin before it was even carved. And the turkey came out so moist and delicious. My only advice is to make the glaze right at the time when you need it. I made it a little early since I was cooking so many things at once and it started to solidify quickly. Which made it more difficult to pour over the turkey. Because the glaze was hardening fast, I ended up pouring it over the turkey before the bird was finished and it cooked into the skin slightly - so I recommend basting the bird with half the glaze 10-15 minutes before it done for extra cooked in flavor..

This year I decided to conquer the Turkey on my own, and whenever I need a good recipe Paulas are what I follow! And once again I was not sorry that I did. This was the best turkey I think I have ever had! It was so moist and delicious and my family absolutely loved it! Thanks Paula for another great recipe!

We tried this recipe this year. Everyone loved the glaze - but the turkey was way too dry. I think it's because it was cooked at 375 degrees. That was just way too high a setting, I believe. Too bad...

This was a good glaze, but some people in my family did think it was too sweet. The turkey came out a little dry but that was probably my fault.

The turkey itself came out great, however the glaze was very sweet, even though I followed the directions completely, I am at a lost as to why it came out as sweet as it did.

I wanted to try a new recipe for a turkey this year. I had my entire family over. My son whom is very picky loved the turkey said it was fantabulosly moist and so did everyone else. My husband is a fireman and took the recipe to the station and cooked it. All the fireman went crazy over it thought it was the best-moist turkey they had ever had and are now trying to figure out how to tell their wives. Thanks Paula for a new family and station favorite.
