I fixed it just like your recipe said except for temperature adjustments to the oven. After the thermometer popped up I poured some of the glaze over the turkey and put it back in the oven for another 20 minutes or so, then took it out put a foil tent over it and put it in my truck and had to drive 45 miles to my nephews house for dinner. We cut into the turkey and OMG it was the moistest best tasting turkey we had ever eaten, and of course who do you think gets to cook the Christmas Turkey--you guessed it me and Paula Deen. Just wanted to say thankyou for the recipe, you really helped me make the day.
The only thing I did other than your recipe was to brine the turkey for about 24 hours.

This turkey was fabulous! I put 2 orange halves inside the turkey and also a bushel of thyme sprigs. My dad said that it was the moistest turkey he had ever had. Thanks Paula! You made our thanksgiving!

The recipe says that it takes 2.5 hours of cooking time but it also says to roast the turkey for 18 minutes per pound. So doesn't that mean it should 4.5 hours? Please let me know approximately how long it took if you have used this recipe. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this recipe! We just moved in a new house and this was my first time making everything. I was really nervous about the turkey. This came out great!!! This will definitely be used again in my house!

This always Wows at our office Holiday luncheons for over 50 people with little left over! I make a few changes...add a 1/2 tsp of grated ginger and add in 1/4 cup orange juice (or pineapple juice and increase the brown sugar to 3/4 cup. Make sure you keep extra sauce for dipping!!

I would put the glaze on the last 20 to 30 mins any sooner and it will burn .I brine my turkey in orange juice and one 2 litter of beer i do this for 3 days . Then i pat dry inject turkey with melted butter ,beer, and orange juice...stuff turkey with apples and oranges soooo juicy and moist. I will try the glaze with it this year can't wait ....

the pie you are looking for is under paula's best dishes - episode turkey time - and is called "pumpkin rum pie." it is a recipe courtesy of her cousin johnnie gabriel. I have not tried this pie and it looks good, but will probably try it sometime when i am not serving company and definitely if it were my first thanksgiving! My advice ---- if it is your first thanksgiving dinner - how about you just use the recipe on the libby's pumpkin pie mix and use betty crocker ready made (frozen pie crusts. Serve with real whipped creme or ice cream and save yourself the headache. Get fancy on your next thanksgiving::
Good luck!!
