Absolutely unbelievable! Extremely easy recipe that doesn't take long to make. I used a refrigerated pie crust & baked it for half the time on the directions & it worked perfectly. This recipe is one of our family favorites now!

I have been making various versions of this since I first saw Paula Deen's original show. I sometimes add pickled jalapeño slices on top. They are not hot and add a great flavor. One of the best things about the recipe is that leftovers freeze vey well. I make a double batch and freeze for school lunches later.

WOW! This was really good. I browned the sausage, then added the onions and then added all the rest all in the same skillet. Used refrigerated pie crust and prebaked it for 11 minutes at 450. Delich!

I think to each his own. If someone wants to make modifications to adjust it to his/her taste no big deal. I do not understand why some ppl are so sensitive. Anyways I also used 4 eggs and added the tomatoes. It was delish :-

I have made this recipe in the past directly as written and felt it was somewhat bland. The changes I made this time to the original ingredients were to use half/half cream as I did not have milk on hand and 4 eggs instead of 3. I found that this solidified the entire casserole much better...albeit adding a few more calories. I also added 5 baby bella mushrooms, 1/2 cup green onions and 1 Roma tomato (all chopped up fine. I then baked it for about 40 minutes due to the added ingredients. It was truly spectacular.....you'll truly agree, promise!!

Fat? well, it did call for a lb. of sausage "drained" -- did you drain the sausage? The cheaper the sausage the more "Fat" it contains! The recipe calls for butter; I don't use any butter, I merely do as the recipe says -"drain the sausage," I then chop my onion small and put in the sausage, next I put the cream cheese in a microwave dish to soften/warm it and add it to sausage and onions, add 3 eggs (or more and add the rest of the ingredients and pour into "partially" baked pie shell - so easy, it doesn't take a rocket scientist. Never needs salt or butter -- It cooks for 30 minutes and the onions are perfect. I have friends from Chicago who want it when they visit. I've made several at a time, cook them and freeze them, then on a busy day just defrost and microwave and dinner is ready! Love it!
