My husband had three bowls in one sitting this turned out so good. I tweaked it a little bit - coating and frying the okra first to get rid of the slime; added a filet of cod, omitted the oysters but used the juice from a can, added a few whole crab legs, and added a dash of crab boil. It was utterly fantastic and it brought me right back to all of my visits to New Orleans!

I make this every year for Christmas and it is always a big hit! My husband is from Louisiana and thinks it's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never put the oyster sauce in it and it tastes great!

My husband and I found this recipe to be fun and easy to make. We changed changed the selection of meat to Chorizo, shrimp, scallions and crap. It was fantastic. Will absolutely be the recipe for seafood gumbo.

Instead of chicken broth, I used broth made from the shells, heads and tails of the shrimp. I added prawns too, so I used those shells. This is a wonderful gumbo!

I made this gumbo for a Sunday Football dinner. It was absolutely amazing! My husband and I like really spicy food so we added Tabasco sauce to ours when served. I will definitely make this gumbo again! Don't forget the buttered rice (4 cups water, 2 cups white rice, 1 stick of butter and some salt. It is delicious also. I love every recipe I have made from Paula. She is the best! Thanks Paula!

This is the best gumbo recipe out there! My family requests that I make it every time we get together for a holiday as it reminds us of our very fond memories of living in and around New Orleans. Thanks Paula for another great recipe that is easy to make and so delicious!

This recipe was great except for the tomatoes having tomatoes changed the flavor from the louisiana flavor of gumbo. I had to add more of the other dry ingredients to get it back. It is a great recipe if you don't want a traditional gumbo. If you do its still a great recipe just don't add the tomatoes make your roux more chocolate just be careful with it. You are the bomb Paula!!!!
