My husband LOVES gumbo. I saw Paula make this recipe on her show and thought I would try. I had never made gumbo before. It turned out absollutely delicious. My husband thought it was the best he had ever eaten. I do not like gumbo but I had seconds!

This is my first time making gumbo and it was a big success! I'm eating it as I'm typing this and my husband absolutely loves it. Paula -- you did it again. AMAZING recipe.

I made this for a NY"s party this past NY's,, 40 people,,, and everyone absolutely raved raved raved about it... I doubled the recipe,,,left out the oysters and doubled the clams,,,,,
I didnt add the cayenne or any 'hot' ingredients,,, instead I added Old Bay Seasoniing,,,,,,(nobody likes hot spicy food where I was going to the party
I actually had to go print out the recipe for people at the party cause everyone wanted to make it,,,,,,, it was wonderful

I cooked this gumbo for my brother's birthday, and at first I was a little afraid of the unknown. But it came out absolutely, flawless. It was my first time making gumbo but no one would have ever known by the quality of this delicious gumbo. My husband, my sis-n-law, my niece, my nephews, and my big brother were pratically licking their bowls. Thanks Paula, I just love you for helping me feed my family that I love so much.

Don't worry about the file powder. I used half chorizo and half turkey sausage. To help with the price, it's ok to use crab claw meet. You won't be disappointed in this dish. Best gumbo I have ever made or eaten.

I am a food network junkie, so when I got a craving for some Gumbo, I headed straight for foodnetwork.com to find a recipe. I was not dissappointed.
This recipe is easy and tasty, though a little time consuming (but I suppose this is true for all good Gumbo recipes. I omitted the Okra and added some crab legs but other than that I followed the recipe to the letter. You always hear the experts talk about layering of flavor and complex flavors. Well, this recipe has it all. It is a rstaurant quality dish that will please the whole family.
One word of caution. I used the adioulle sausage and the heat transferred to the broth. It was very good but too spicy fo my 2 year old (although my 9 and 12 year olds loved it. So if you don't like spicy foods, you may want to use a less spicy sausage and possible leave out the cayenne.

Really good seafood gumbo. I got rave reviews. I substituted mussels for oysters since my kids don't like oysters. Came out great. The sausage is spicy and the spiciness is transferred to the broth. I do not like my food too spicy so next time I will leave out the hot spices. WIll definitely make again.

I have tried more than one gumbo recipe from the food network site and I have to tell you that this was the best by far. It was also the easiest to prepare. I often cook and just take the food to work for the guys. This pot of gumbo disappeared faster than anything I have ever taken in. I'm throwing out all my other gumbo recipes.

Love it! Left out some of the water, so it would be a little thicker. Couldn't find the thickner that was recommended. Overall a great recipe!!
