This was both delicious and quite easy to make. Now one of my family's favorites.

I've tried many recipes for Gumbo before and I never liked the taste of the finished product. I saw this show and decided to try it and I'm trilled that I did. I substitued clams for oysters and I added crab claws. I'm a metropolitan girl with a love for Southern cooking and now I don't have to fly down South to get great Gumbo.

Although I do not eat seafood myself I did make this recipe for my family and they all loved it! They said it was the best gumbo they ever had! Thanks Paula!

The gumbo is delecious. Paula is a very good cook just like my self and a good inspiration. I did tweak it a bit though, since I am not an oyster fan I substituted crawfish for the oysters. I bought whole crawfish used the tailmeat and used the bodies to make a stock instead of using chicken stock I also added old bay seasoning instead of the house seasoning and I added lump crab meat, claw crab meat, clams, adouie sausage, and shrimp and all of the vegetables that were in the recipie. to some this addition may sound a bit expensive but it is well worth it because it makes a lot and it feeds a lot of people.great job paula, my hats off to you.

I went to the store to buy the ingredients after the show. Cooked it and it was easy, fast and delicious. Even my picky food critic (daughter loved it. I got KUDOS from the family, so KUDOS to MS. PAULA DEAN.

I made this for our offices Mardi Gras party, and everyone loved it!!! I doubled the receipe which made a TON of gumbo. Doing the receipe just the way it is written gives you enough for about 10 people. I will definately do this again.
