This recipe was extremely easy. Since I do not consider myself a cook, I was reluctant to add my own touches to the recipe. I added chicken and a few other things and it turned out great! I come from a family of seasoned Gumbo eaters, and they even thought it was good. I highly recommend this recipe.

We planned to have friends over for dinner so my husband requested Gumbo. I made Paula's recipe with a couple of minor changes: I omitted the oysters (don't care for them and added some cut up boneless, skinless chicken thighs and some green onions. It was fabulous! All of us had seconds or thirds and our friends wanted to steal the leftovers to take home. I will make this recipe again and again. We loved it.

This is a great and easy to make recipe - it's easier than it might seem to make. Don't be intimidated by all the ingredients! You're family will love you for it.

This gumbo was amazing...though I did make some changes. I didn't have any chicken base, or lemon pepper - so I omitted that. I also omitted the scallops; we don't care much for them. I did add an extra can of chicken broth, a little lemon juice, salt and pepper, some pre-cooked chicken strips, 8 oz crawfish, 2 tilapia filets, some crab claw meat, 4 green onions, and I think that's all I added. But - it was my first time ever for making gumbo, and everyone gave it 5 stars. I think we are even going to have it for our Christmas dinner this year.

This took time to make but it was all worth it. I would omit the oysters next time, I was not a huge fan.

I can't make enough of this stuff. I usually make for parties and everyone loves it. I made some adjustments, no okra and I use soft shell white crabs and spoon this over rice....Yummy!
