I had something similiar to these at a party recently and had to search to find a recipe. These were great! I added a 1/2 cup of walnuts (because the cookies at the party had them. I will increase the cayenne to 1/2 teaspoon because I really liked the spice.

Made this tonight it was GREAT. I did change a couple of things as I did not have cheddar cheese and I prefer chipotle. I used granulated garlic and sea salt as I do not have garlic salt in the house. So I used smoked Gouda and chipotle the flavor was amazing rich decedent. Just the way I like it.

I made this recipe as called for and it was very good as is. I do not know why Sally would need salted butter when it already calls for 1T of garlic salt.

How can a pound of butter with cheese, garlic and cayenne pepper not taste good?!?!?!? The recipe needs to be a bit more specific. For example, salted or unsalted butter? I'll use salted next time. And how did Paula "mix" the ingredients? When baking, I assume unless otherwise specified, that mix means by hand. Next time, I will use a mixer to mix all the butter and 2-3 cups of the flour; then add chese by hand and the rest of the flour. I had a very difficult time getting all the ingredients combined and really could not knead the dough. And I am an experienced baker.
I will make this recipe again with my modifications because it tastes fabulous!
