First of all Pauline, sweetie, you have to actually MAKE the recipe before you begin commenting on it. It doesn't sound like you've actually done that. Although I am an American, I was raised by an English family, and they, like me appreciate the numerous and varied recipes for Shepherd's Pie. This recipe is as universal as Pot Roast or Hamburgers, and can be made a million different ways. My family actually MADE this recipe and loved it, especially since it is a real time-saver for all of us who work, and affordable, for those of us who don't have so much time on our hands we can email comments on things we haven't actually performed. Save your useless chatter for your travel agent, who will be happy to sell you a ticket back to your beloved England, AND your Shepherd's Pie. Tally-Ho Pauline.

***Just so everyone knows -- I loved this recipe and I saved it to my Recipe Box**

    Dear Pauline from Bellingham, WA,

So sorry we couldn't appeal to your refined British tastes. If your version is so good, why don't you post it to your blog and then post the link here? Or better yet, why not go on the Throwdown with Bobby Flay show? I'll tell you why. It's because your version is bland shame of the original recipe anyways, and you know you would lose. American cuisine is full of fusion dishes. It wouldn't be American if we Americans didn't change it for our own personal tastes. Changing things is what we Americans do, and changing recipes is part of a chef's job! I'm going to tell you what I have told my Salvadoran relatives (esp. my mom: If you don't like the food from the United States, then you shouldn't of moved here. If I moved to Japan or India tomorrow, I would have to eat their version of the Big Mac or make my own Big Mac at home. In no way do I think that this recipe deserves less stars just because it's not like the recipe from your homeland.

    Signed,

    KS Randall

That is THE worst recipe I have seen for Shepard's Pie I have ever seen.

It is NOT made with ground beef, it is NOT made with biscuit mix of any kind. Where in the world did you get this recipe?

I was born and raised in England, and have NEVER seen a recipe like this for Shepard's Pie!

You really need to re-think and ditch this post, it gives folks a really wrong idea!

If you are trying to do a different take on it, then SAY SO!!

If you would like to know the real way to make it, ask me and I will tell you!

Well, I have leftover pork instead of beef, but it was still good! And the great thing about this recipe is that you can modify it depending on what you have around the fridge leftover. I loved it!

I used left over roast beef in this...I used a 9x13 pan, layered potatoes (without sour cream, layer of drained canned corn (two cans, layer of meat, then I cooked some onion in butter and added two cans of cream of chicken soup with a little beef soup base and layered that over the meat...I knew mine would need to have a gravy layer...Topped with biscuit mixture and drizzled butter...My family really liked this...They are meat and potato fans!! Will make this again

I watched Paula make this recipe with leftover roast beef and that's the recipe I was looking for. Where's the roast beef? I think she also used gravy in it?
