My family loved this recipe. I used a grocery store brand of roast beef and gravy for the meat, and a ready made mashed potato, took corn off the cob and it was excellent. Thanks Paula

Four stars not cause it's it will knock your socks off but it's good, easy, and VERSATILE. As many reviews mention, use what you've got. I would be careful not to make the potatoe:meat ratio to far in favor of potatoe...with the crust on top too you need the juice and meat to counter. For me, busy and not always alot of energy to think I would consider this an easy, pleasing, keeper!

The only thing I did differently was adding garlic. Because garlic makes everything better! This dish was absolutely fabulous.

I've had this recipe forever now & use it all the time. The original recipe is awesome but I really love it for all my left overs. It doesn't matter what kind of carbs I have left over, potato, rice, pasta(husband didn't like the orzo. For the meat I've used everything from left over stew meat to rotisserie chicken. This recipe is absolutely awesome. Thanks paula....

I make this all the time. Whenever I am going to make mashed potatoes, I just make a double batch and use the leftovers to make this delicious dish! It seems as though the potatoes are the most time consuming part of this for me. The only other thing I do differently is change up the vegetables. I love adding soybeans to this. I've also thrown in green beans, corn and any other vegetable I have on hand. This is a great recipe for using up some leftovers, and it's absolutely delicious!

I thought it was pretty good too, though was a little nervous after reading some other reviews. Only used 1 lb of hamburger which was fine. Added only a pinch of salt to the meat mixture which gave it plenty of flavor. Didn't use a full 1/2 cup of butter (maybe 1/3 cup? to the potatoes and no salt. The crust left much to be desired, though that was to be expected considering it was just a biscuit mix. Will make again though next time may add some garlic too!
