Doesn't anyone taste before they serve? A little more of what you like, a little less of what you don't like works well. The basics are there and they are tasty.
I made this recipe because my dad LOVED Paula and this recipe didn't disappoint! WE both LOVED IT! I didn't have enough ingredients to make the recipe for House Seasoning so I just used salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste and it turned out AWESOME! Neither my dad nor I thought it was bland AT ALL! I guess if it's bland just add a little more salt, pepper, garlic powder. It's your recipe folks! Make it to YOUR taste! I think the most important thing about this dip is letting the flavors marry together for at least 4 hours. I can't imagine anyone making a blended dip and serving it immediately. Thanks for the wonderful recipe Paula! I've decided to make this dip again for my family reunion coming up in a few weeks! I KNOW it will be a huge hit!!!
We love Paula Deen, but we found thi recipe to be bland... it tasty just like whipped cream cheese. After, we added lemon juice, a touch of hot sauce and let it sit over night, it came out really yummy!!!
not what i was expecting. kind of fell flat for me. i tried adding more cayenne but still just ehhh... not bad but not good.
I have had Shrimp Butter and love it. Its mild and oh so yummy on crostini or crackers. However I didn't like this recipe at all!! We had to throw it out! I followed the recipe to the letter, but thought the Sherry was overwelming. The texture was odd too. I will keep searching for the perfect Shrimp Butter.
1 stick butter / 8 oz. cream cheese.

The recipe I have calls for onion juice. (Just mince some onion.) I seem to remember Paula putting onion in hers ( on TV).

With the corrections we've added I'd give this 5 stars. I love shrimp butter.
I DVR'D THIS SHOW AFTER SOME OF THE COMMENTS AND I NOTICED THAT PAULA PUT 2 OF THE TUBS OF CREAM CHEESE IN. THOSE ARE 8 OZ. SHE EVEN SAID YOU COULD USE THE BLOCKS IF YOU WANTED. THAT MIGHT BE THE REASON IT WAS TOO BUTTERY. ALSO IF TOO BLAND ADD EXTRA CAYENE, AND GARLIC AND CUMIN. HOPE THIS HELP! MARIA
This was fantastic made it for my 4th of July guest and it was great I will make it again for the next party I will have in Sept. Thanks Paula
We used this Shrimp Butter for our Fat Tuesday Party - with a couple of changes. We took out one stick of butter and added one more 3oz. package of cream cheese. Also stepped up the Sherry - to taste - you'll know. Lots of requests for this recipe. Thanks so much.
this dish is one of the best i have tasted so tasty and rich
I made this for a party and it was gone in minutes everyone loved it
I think it was intended to taste simple. Needless to say, I did find it bland. I think next time I'll make the shrimp scampi style first. And to the person that found it way to salty...You were supposed to use a TEASPOON of the house seasoning..not the whole cup of salt. I can't believe anyone could find this too salty. id try it again though.
    This is Fabulous!!!
An awesome aleternative to ho-hum dips and apps we are all so tired of. Great with crackers, crudite, or to top baked potatoes. . . it's great!!!
I read the reviews for this recipe and added some spicy shrimp sauce to it. My guests loved it. I did leave the shrimp a bit chunky for crackers and then blended it smooth for bagels. Try this with crab meat too YUMMY
I agree with everyone. This is VERY bland. It needs some zip. I tried to spice it up but stiil bland. Sorry---
I really should have read the reviews for this, because quite frankly this was disgusting! As I read the recipe I thought wow, this sounds so easy to make, Total watse of ingrediants!
Needed something else. Just wasn't what I thought it would be
Not as great as it sounded. Sorry Paula, I think this is the only thing of yours I have not liked.
I loved the ease of this recipe, but was a little disappointed in the flavor, although as an afterthought I probably should have left the shrimp a bit larger. I brought this to a neighborhood New Year's Eve party and most was eaten. What was left over, my neighbor put in the freezer and a few days later, we decided to try it on baked potatoes...it was great. I probably watch Paula more than any of the other shows and have tried many of her recipes. One day I hope to stop by her restaurant in Savannah and sample some of her cooking personally.
I suppose I would have preferred are more spicy outcome. It was okay, just not as good as I had hoped.
I loved it. My mom made this recipe first and I thought it was to buttery. So I altered it to my liking. This recipe made too much so I cut it in half and found that it was plenty for just a few of us. I used about 1/2 stick of butter and a little more cream cheese (4 oz). I made the shrimp scampi style first with some garlic butter (lots of garlic), cooled and left shrimp with some big chunks. Added the butter from the scampi and a little extra cayenne pepper to give it a kick. I served it with crackers but also tried it on slice of bagette bread with a little parm cheese on top then put it in the oven to heat thru.(NOT TO LONG) YUMMY YUMMY. I will be making this again.
Could use a little punch. I found it too mild.
I fixed this for my husband's office party we had at my house. Everyone loved it. It was so easy too.
I thought I had made this wrong the first time around, very salty, then I made another batch and that too was very salty. I did not care for it at all, and my guests tried it to be nice, but very few at it! Don't think I will be making this again? But Paula I am a huge fan and have made many other recipes of yours *YUMO*..Keep on Cookin Darlin!
This was one of the worst recipes I've ever tried. Bland would be too flattering a description. I would have been better off just spreading butter straight onto the crackers. Needless to say, no one was asking me for this recipe.
The combination of ingredients sounded like it would be a winner, but alas! I should have read the reviews. First Paula recipe I wasn't crazy about, to be honest. I noticed the consistency of this was VERY hard the next day, in spite of saying it could be stored for a long time. BF thought it was too spicy.
Tastes really light in spite of all that butter and cream cheese. Someone brought it to a picnic and left the shrimp somewhat chunky. I had to come right to the Food Network Site to grab that recipe. Yum !!
Not too tasty although easy to prepare.

    Guest did not like it.
I am eating this as we speak. Wonderful flavor! Very easy to make too. Try it on biscuits. It's out of this world!!
