I had my kids help me make this last year, and am getting excited to make it again!! We used salami, pepperoni, and pepper jack cheese. Made it have a little bit of a kick! everyone loved it. I bet you could vary this dish any way you could think of. It's so much fun to make, really gets you into the halloween spirit.

I do not know where to start?! Oh wait, yes I do.
I can not believe how ignorant people can be about such things. First, if you don't like Paula why are you in her section of Food Network? Second, you didn't read the recipe correctly. It says in the recipe that you can substitute the meat for your favorite meat. Say you wanted turkey instead or if you were vegetarian you could use tempeh and veggie cheese slices. The word here is "substitution". Thirdly, I have battled my weight gain up and down. I have had several nutritionists during my life and not a single one of them has said, "you can't celebrate holidays or birthdays". Halloween is one day a year so let the kids have all the candy they want that day. Then move on with healthy meals the rest of the week. Once in awhile is fine.
You sound as though Paula has really ruffled your feathers. Yes, Paula's favorite thing is her deep fat fryer. Don't hate her for that; if you don't like that change the channel or go to a different website.
Thank you for listening to what I have to say. And yes, I have the guts to put my name on this because I am not ashamed of what I have said here.

I made this for a halloween party a year ago and it was a HUGE hit. The entire snake was gone within minutes. I am in agreement with someone else on here that said if you have more than 10 people, make more. I would also reccomend that people not comment on dishes they haven't even made. It brings the rating down for no reason. If you're not going to even make the dish, don't rate it.

I used this at a Halloween party, and had great reviews! I almost missed even getting to try it because once everyone started digging in, they couldn't stop eating. If you are having more than 10 people over, I would recommend making the snake extra long(double the recipe!

Who cooks with canned crescent rolls and bologna still? I believe that fresh ingredients and foods that aren't processed are the best way to stay healthy. So when I saw what was in this recipe I decided not to make it which has been the case with most of Paula Deen's recipes.

I made this last Halloween, and it was a hit, especially with my granddaughter. I found that I didn't need as much meat as the recipe called for. Shaping it and decorating it to look like a snake was simple and fun. It also can be made as a loaf and served for any occasion.
