My wife almost ate the whole recipe singlehandedly. I was going to give the dog a taste and she flew off her rocker. I must say these are great. I did changes the recipe a little by adding a little "kick" and some mustard. Will use from now on as the baked bean recipe to be passed on for generations.

These are good baked beans. I used real bacon bits vs. bacon. Cut fat and made it much easier and less messy to make.

I modified the recipe to lower the fat content by frying the bacon first to remove some excess fat. The resulting beans were a hit with my co-workers at our pre-4th of July BBQ!

Paula offers a quick and easy recipe for beans with her Southern Baked Beans. I did change the recipe up a bit. I can't help tweaking recipes to add my personal touch and preferences. I also took the good advice of others who put a review online. Here's what I did to enhance the recipe:
I drained the juice off of the cans of Pork n' Beans so the end result wouldn't be so runny. I only used 5 slices of Turkey Bacon instead of the 1/2 pound. Who needs the calories? And it tasted just as yummie with less fat and calories.
I addes less sugar and less syrup just so it wouldn't be SO sweet.
    Hope this inspires you!

Wonderful. A little runny, but I think if I would have cooked them a little longer than recommended, they would have been perfect.
