Great recipe. My friends and family love it! I don't use as much onion and I use molasses instead of the maple syrup (it's cheaper and serves the same purpose. The pork and beans I typically buy already have bacon so additional bacon is optional if that's the case.

Hot diggity! This is my go-to baked bean recipe. I vary it on occasion depending on the type of baked beans we have in the cupboard, but no matter which one I use, it's always a huge hit. Yummy yummy yummy I've got LOVE in my tummy!!!!

Although she left out some steps, the flavor was unbelievable. Definitely the best beans I have ever tasted.

Use the preparation from her website, and the ingredients from this page, plus one more can of beans. They obviously never check the recipes. You really need to saute the onions in the bacon grease until they're caramelized or they won't taste like they should. Otherwise, great recipe!

Took the advice of some other reviewers and followed the recipe from Paula's website. Served the beans for a gathering over the weekend and they were a huge hit. Quadrupled the recipe for so many people, and did not add all of the pan drippings to the bowl. These are the best beans I have ever made and the only baked beans recipe I will probably ever use.

I love this recipe!! I don't have a cast iron pot, so I just let my brother in law make it. but then I have it for lunch everyday for a week! that's right, nothing but baked beans! everyone makes fun of me for it, but they're just jealous!

If you really want a Paula Deen recipie then go to her own website. How a dish is put together can make all the difference in the outcome. The directions for this recipie reads completely different from the one on her website!

This is SO good. I used a little more mustard to cut the sweetness a bit. I also cooked it on top of the stove for about 3 hours on a special setting that is lower than simmer. (It is July and too hot for the oven. It came out delicious. I will definitely make these beans again. The recipe is good for a meal without leaving leftovers.
