If you are a fan of Paula Deen as I am, please DO NOT use the recipe from THIS WEB SITE, go to Paula Deen's web site and get the right one. Too many important steps were omitted and the recipe is completly different.
I trust Paula Deen and her expertice in the kitchen and I would make any dish she would and feel safe serving it to my family. But this recipe from the Food Network is pure rubbish and something I wouldn't serve to anyone I cared about.

I made these for a graduation party Memorial Day weekend. Because I did not know how long food would be served I did them in the crockpot. I cut up my bacon, put it in a plastic colander over a glass bowl and cooked it in the microwave to remove some of the grease. Also, did not want to put the raw bacon into the crock pot. I let it cook on high about 4 hours. Everyone raved about them. I had leftovers, I quadrupled the recipe, I sent them to another party the next day. According to everyone, they were better the second day.

The key to this recipe is cutting the bacon into half inch pieces and frying it just enough to render out a good bit of fat. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Then fry your onions in the leftover bacon grease. Mix everything together before baking and these beans come out so delicious!

Which is what I look for in a recipe! Everyone at dinner raved about how great they were and wanted the recipe.

My husband is a baked bean fanatic; would eat them every day if I would make them for him. This is a very good "quick" baked bean recipe. The flavor was great and I loved the small pieces of bacon on top. They all cooked up crispy; I pulled them out of the oven a couple times during cooking just to move bacon around a little. Will definately make this recipe again.

Before I tried this recipe I thought I made the best beans. Now these are the only baked beans I make, and get rave reviews every time. Followed the recipe, except used cider vinegar, as I didn't have lemon juice.

My husband loves these beans. The only change I make is to fry up the bacon in a skillet a bit first and drain to cut back on the grease. Also I put some of the bacon in the beans and the rest on top.

this was the easiest baked bean recipe i've ever made. i've used some of sandra lee's baked bean recipes, && a couple of homemade recipes...but, this was , by far, the easiest. i tasted it before baking && was scared it would be too sweet...but, after baking for almost an hour, the bacon fat released into the beans && cut some of that maple syrup in the recipe. i made it today, for the 4th of july, && it went over extremely well. everyone kept asking for the recipe. but, i'm from the south...if u're northern, i'm not sure it will go over as well. this is a recipe i would most definitely use again && keep on hand in my recipe box.
