My wife and I made this over the weekend and it was ok. I really didn't care for the Texas Pete. The Texas Pete has a flavor that is over powering and that is all I could taste. It wasn't hot..just had a weird flavor from the Texas Pete. I would make it again but I would change the hot sauce to Crystal or Tabasco. Very crunchy coating that the whole family loved. FRY IN ONLY A DEEP POT LIKE THE RECIPE CALLS FOR. VERY DANGEROUS USING A CAST IRON SKILLET!!!

I DECREASED THE SALT FROM 1 CUP TO 1/2
CUP. 1 CUP OF SALT IS TOO MUCH AND I
DIDN'T USE BUT A FEW SHAKES TO COVER
CHICKEN PIECES. ALSO, I PUT THE FLOUR
COATED CHICKEN IN THE FRIDGE FOR
    15 MINUTES BEFORE FRYING.

This recipe especially works if you double-coat your chicken. It's very flavorful and crunchy that way! It was a huge hit among my friends and in Southern California where we don't normally have fried chicken as a food option except via fastfood chicken strip-versions.

This fried chicken was easy to prepare and very tasty. I couldn't believe how nicely browned and crispy it came out. My spouse claimed it was the best fried chicken she had ever tasted.
